To find the person who started the rumors would certainly be a feat of intellect and patience. Talia had gained the alliance of General Ulysses and I had found the plainest clothing possible. The two of us set off with directions to the nearest gossip house from General Ulysses. The muddy streets soaked through our shoes quickly and we made haste to the tea shop. A small shop, bustling with all kinds of different species.
The walls were a soft birch wood and the floors were tiled with beautiful ceramic pieces that were being swept by one of the employees. The whistle of a kettle and the hum of conversation greeted us in a manner I found to be rather pleasant. We took a table in the corner and waited for a server. The young redhead who approached us was a fast talker and very energetic.
"What'll you have?" We ordered two cups of chai tea but stopped her before she could leave. "Do you know anything about a second daughter?" She nodded, "Sure, it's the talk of the town, I'll get your drinks and then we can chat about it." I nodded and tried to be patient while I waited. "Now then, what is it you want to know?" She set the drinks before us and pulled up a chair. "Everything." "Alright then! There's a young lady, a bit younger than you, who lives on the outskirts of the village. She is said to be unimaginably beautiful and very smart too despite her humble beginnings. She's got all the manners of a lady and even her name sounds royal." I inquired after the girl's name.
"Cecilia. Isn't it a lovely name? I think so. She looks an awful lot like the king, different hair of course but still very similar. She claims he is her father! Isn't that exciting?" We nod and listen as the woman talks our ears off with small unimportant details. I stop her before she can begin a story about how her brother dated a blonde who turned out to be his aunt. "Who started the rumor?" I questioned. "Why the girl herself, she was talkin' to a man in a bar and told him she thought that she looked an awful lot like the king."
I thanked the woman for her time and, our hot chocolate finished, we took our leave.
