A year. It had been a year since Natsu and Happy joined Fairy Tail for the second time. Everything was pretty much the same as it was when they were children before, Levy would read everyone novels, Laxus would ignore everyone, Cana would sneak drinks away from the bar, and so on. But the duo saw that two people, who were normally there, weren't. Gildarts and Loke. For Gildarts, it was normal, he would go on S-Class missions and decade quests all the time, but Loke was almost always at the guild. He wasn't S-Class, so he couldn't have been on one.

Maybe he already disappeared, Natsu thought, or maybe his past had changed. The duo didn't stress the matter too much.

Today was a normal day, like any other. Natsu had recently turned 14, and was going on tons of missions. He wanted to become S-Class soon, the sooner the better. Then, he could take on harder jobs, and get stronger faster.

He really wanted to see Gildarts again, and challenge him to a fight. Natsu had become very powerful, and he thought he might at least stand a chance against the 'old geezer' now. So, he decided to ask where he was.

"Hey, Mira, where's Gildarts?" Mira seemed shocked, How does he know about Gildarts.

"Natsu, how do you know about him? Nobody mentioned him to you?" Crap! Natsu thought, I forgot about that, quick I have to think of something.

"Er...um...he's really powerful, who hasn't heard of him?" He replied, nervously. Hopefully she doesn't suspect anything.

"Oh, of course! Well, you see, there are things called decade quests, he took one about 3 years ago, he should be back any day now, actually." She informed, completely oblivious of his lies.

"Oh, thanks," He grinned. Yes, the sooner he gets back, the sooner I get to fight him!

Walking away from Mira, he was approached by Gajeel. This was surprising because he had never really talked to Natsu for anything other than to start a fight.

"Oi, why ya lyin' to Mira?" He questioned in a gruff voice, his crimson eyes boring into Natsu's charcoal ones. Natsu's face showed no emotion, but his eyes told another story. Nervousness.

"W-what are you talking about, Gajeel." Nervous was an understatement, he was scared. What will happen if he finds out?!

"Your heartbeat sped up, just like it is now. I'm a dragon slayer just like you, remember?"

"I don't know what your talking about." He spoke a bit more confidently, trying to make it sound more believable. Quickly, before he was questioned further, he pushed past the older man, and out of the guild.

Following a small dirt path into the forest, he came across a familiar cottage. A few months ago, he had, with the help of Happy, finished rebuilding their old house. After a long day at the guild, it was nice to relax in the familiar environment.

Natsu decided to go to bed early after eating dinner. As he lay in his hammock, he thought about what adventures tomorrow would hold. Little did he know, a huge surprise was awaiting him.
