The convention centre was packed as hoards of people rushed in to stand in line for the signing of one of the best selling romance novels of the decade, 'As Long As You Stay' by the mysterious and elusive Author Fu.

'As Long As You Stay' was a very popular romance novel taking China by storm. Written about a domineering CEO and a white lotus beauty finding true love in a stormy sea of sharks, it was what every romance reader was looking for with a barrage of scandals here and there, steamy scenes and savage ordeals in a ruthless business world. Naturally, the protagonists rise up above all odds and defeat all that is against their love in the end.

Sounds corny doesn't it?

Well, it's sales had gone off the charts the moment it was in bookshops and there were even rumors that many big stars were bidding for a role in its upcoming movie which was spreading like wildfire.

Safe to say, 'As Long As You Stay' was taking Chinese romance readers by storm.

The line for Author Fu, who rarely made appearances, was as long as the eye could see with fans eagerly waiting to get their copies of the novel signed. In fact, the earliest in line had come at 3am in the morning to secure their spots. It was that intense.

As the signing was currently in full swing, a mysterious person in sweatpants, a big hoodie and dark sunglasses stood near the front of the line. No one could tell their gender, least of all identity, as their silhouette seemed to hide all of their physique.

Anywhere else, they would have certainly caught attention, but everyone here weren't interested as they were more concerned about their signing rather than this particular odd ball.

Amongst the noise from the crowd, that person's phone rang.

"What is it?" A slightly impatient voice answered.

"Sorry to disturb you Boss Cui, but you told me to remind you that the shareholder's meeting is in twenty-minutes, twenty minutes before that twenty minutes."

Crap. Cui Huifen cursed. She hadn't forgotten that, but rather ignored it to focus on this fan signing. She had come here exceptionally early today and was two people away from her turn. Unfortunately, the idiot currently having their turn was crying to the author right now and had taken ten minutes already!

To make matters worse, the two people in front of her were starting to tear up. If this went on, she wouldn't be able to make it!

There was cry in her heart, but nonetheless she replied monotonously, "thanks. I'll be there."

Finally, after another fifteen minutes, it was her turn. Unlike everyone else, she had not come to get her book signed. Rather, her purpose here was to get the answer to a question she was far too curious about from the author.

A question that took too much space in her mind, preventing her from working with full concentration. A question that should not have been a question had the book been written properly so that people like her did not have to suffer under such conditions!

Author Fu was a middle aged man who wore round-rimmed-glasses and was dressed in a beige hoodie with matching khakis. He seemed polite to his fans, but upon closer inspection, Cui Huifen could see an air of indifference, as though the man had been forced to do this.

When she reached his signing table, he merely glanced at her with a practiced nod of acknowledgment before habitually extending his hand out to grab her book and signed it. It was a silent and swift ordeal.

When he looked at her, he was slightly amused to see her all covered up and wearing dark sunglasses.

Heh. Another idol incognito? He thought smugly.

"Thank you for coming." He said what he had been repeating to everyone who had come with a small smile.

"I should be the one thanking you for this masterpiece." Cui Huifen replied with a smile of her own.

Somehow seeing that smile, the author's smile wavered as he suddenly thought of something.

"Actually..." Cui Huifen took her glasses off so, revealing her face and spoke, "I have a question to ask Author Fu."

The moment his eyes met her's, the author stiffened in his seat. His heart started to beat faster in his chest, but he tried not to reveal his thoughts.

"Go ahead." He managed to croak out. No longer indifferent, but rather alert and... frightful?

Cui Huifen noticed this slight change but pretended not to see it. Perhaps he recognized her as the CEO of Halcyon Corporation? Or maybe on a business magazine? Forbes perhaps?

"Thank you sir. Actually, I'm quite curious about one thing in As Long as You Stay..." Cui Huifen began. The author was looking at her blankly, but she could tell she had his attention from his dilated pupils, so she continued: "why did Cui Huifen hate the main characters so much?"

Ah yes, one more thing... the main villain in this novel coincidentally shared the same name as her. Ironic isn't it?

This one, simple question seemed to drain the man's blood as his face suddenly paled. Then, as though struck by something, the man fainted and slid off his chair.

Cui Huifen was stunned.

Did that... did that just happen?

A second later the crowd took notice of the situation and went into a frenzy. The author's security guards jumped into action to help the unconscious man and rudely shoved Cui Huifen back as though she was the threat.

This action lead the crowd to believe she was the culprit and they targeted curses at her.

"How dare you cause the Great Author Fu to faint!"

"Get out you ungrateful!"

"What the fuck did you do to him?"

"May you and your ancestors be punished!"

His fans were certainly passionate.

A minute later Cui Huifen was escorted out of the convention center unceremoniously by guards.

Left in the parking lot, she scoffed and got into her car, throwing the novel into the passenger seat in annoyance.

It was just one damn question and she received so much backlash!

Her eyes landed on the time on the dash board and she quickly changed into her suit before pulling out of the parking lot and onto the main road.

It seemed her grievances would have to wait until after the meeting.

However, never did she expect that that would be her last moments before a truck collided into her car and she died.
