——————————————-Hong Xiang, though visibly shaken, nodded and rushed into the staffroom for Mr Zhi.
Pleased by the submissive obedience, the gangster and his cronies arrogantly made their way into the tavern and took their seats along the bar.
The tavern was quiet with patrons silently minding their own business, yet subtly cautious of the new and criminal intruders.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" The stout gangster looked at Zhi Ming Xia expectantly. "Aren't you gonna pour us a drink or... would you like to be our treat?" His disgusting words came with a perverted smirk on the corner of his lips and his eyes looked her up and down with lewd desire.
The other gangsters beside him laughed at his joke, all eyeing Zhi Ming Xia with a similar lust.
The young woman, too intimidated to speak, stood trembling by the counter.
This was clearly the first time she had actually encountered these men who had been troubling her father's business.
"Well? What are you standing there for? Hurry up!" One of the gangsters snapped.
Zhi Ming Xia jumped in shock, but did as told and moved to concoct their drinks, the fear making her forget that she had no experience whatsoever in the job of a bartender. Her trembling hands did not go unnoticed by Cui Huifen nor the gangsters, who laughed like hyenas upon seeing this.
Cui Huifen huffed.
So these were the buffoons trying to tear this place down? This band of low-life thugs with a leader who looked moments away from passing away from a heart attack was harassing the bar?
It was truly laughable.
Watching Zhi Ming Xia fumble pathetically in her attempts to make their drinks and with Manager Zhi still no where in sight, Cui Huifen decided she would seize this opportunity to take out the trash early.
In a calm manner, she walked behind the bar and set the tray in her hands aside as she joined the nervous Zhi Ming Xia.
Her entrance ignited a new flame in the room for the gangsters. They had never seen such a beautiful girl in their lives. Their lecherous eyes roamed over her figure excitedly and rather hungrily, like starved predators having found their first prey in a long time.
One of the men whistled lowly. "Now who do we have here?"
"A new barmaid?"
"Oh I like this one. Look at that waist and those curves. Not to mention that face! I've never seen a more beautiful women—not even on tv!"
"Say, why don't we take her when we leave. I don't think we'll ever get a chance to taste someone as exquisite as her."
Their remarks were distasteful, so much so that any woman hearing it would recoil with discomfort and disgust because they were being described as an object rather than human being.
Zhi Ming Xia glanced at Cui Huifen, her eyes showing pity, but also relief that the attention had shifted. Cui Huifen, on the other hand, barely gave the men a batter of her lashes as she picked up a bottle of whiskey and moved over to the counter, placing a cup in front of the ringleader.
"Oh? Are you going to put on a show for me here?" The man grinned, his yellow teeth resembling a ripe banana.
Cui Huifen remained expressionless as she undid the cap and proceeded to pour the whiskey into the glass. The brown liquid flowed out like a current, it's rich, alcoholic smell filling Cui Huifen's nostrils. This was a strong burning one.
