In the bag was what appeared to be a worn out folder that had been packed with documents, a small blue blanket and a small knife.

That's it? That's all the original owner of the body had to her name?

She rummaged through the bag to check for anything else, her expression growing more solemn each passing second.

This young woman was truly dirt poor.

Stuck in her own thoughts and thus unknown to Cui Huifen, the taxi driver who had been silent ever since she had gotten in was observing her behavior suspiciously.

It was only about 7:30am and this youth, filthy from head to toe and wearing rag-worthy clothes, was not pleased with what they found in their bag...

It instantly peaked his curiosity.

He narrowed his eyes as he pondered further about what could be in the bag. Gold? Money? No. Then... drugs?

He gasped. "Oh hell no!"

The taxi driver pulled the vehicle to the side and glared at her through the review-mirror.

"Scram lass and take your filthy drugs with you! You thought I wouldn't know what teenagers like you are up these days?" He scoffed before snarling. "Selling drugs is not the way to go. Look at you. I mean just look at you!" He shook his head disapprovingly.

Cui Huifen stopped her search and stared at the driver, speechless.

"But I'm not—"

"Denial. Yes, it is the first stage. I was there too. I was once like you. A young man who thought he was invincible..." he stared out into the distance with a misty, reminiscent look.

Are all middle-aged men here depressed in the morning?

Maybe this wasn't the right taxi.

"... but I understand."

Huh?

"You're just trying to live. You can't help that it's drugs... It's not your fault your mother has high blood pressure or that your older sister ran off with a crony. What does that have to do with you? The west tricked us with opium so it is the west's fault for the drug trade! And those bastard cops! They talk as though they get it, but they don't! No one understands you! Ahhh!" The driver grit his teeth and hit the steering wheel.

Cui Huifen opened her mouth, but closed it again. What... just what is going on?

"This big brother completely understands. So... I will help you. Let's see what you've got." The driver turned around suddenly, trying to take a peak into the bag.

Cui Huifen closed the bag before he could see.

"Why would I be carrying drugs? Mister, are you okay?"

Receiving a genuine 'are you crazy look', the driver realized his mistake and quickly turned around. Shit! I almost exposed myself!

He cleared his throat, "what fine weather we're having. Have you come up with a destination yet, miss?"

"Just keep driving..."

Ignoring what just happened, Cui Huifen pulled out the thick folder and opened it.

Inside was an old diary that had been locked, a few professional documents for school, a personal stamp and a small account book.

Curious as to how much the original owner had to her name, Cui Huifen flipped through the account book first and upon seeing the last noted figure, her eye twitched.
