•Warnings: talk of injury, age regression, talk of the fire.

•Type: age regression

A/N: okay, so this is a little space one shot. Age regression is used as a coping mechanism and is in no means anything sexual. Do not connect it to sex. In age regression, a person's mind regresses to that of a child's, often to cope with trauma. In this, Dally is the little and Steve is his caregiver and the gang knows about their relationship. Also, I'm rewriting Johnny's injuries. Also takes place in same time as book, but no homophobia because for some reason I don't want to write that level of angst in this one shot.

Dally whimpers as the nurses wheel his bed down the hallway. As he sees Ponyboy sitting on a chair, he sits up slightly, "I wan Stevie," he says. 

"I called him, Dals," Ponyboy responds. 

Dally huffs as the nurses park his bed and he pulls his blanket up to his chin. His arm aches and he stares at the bandage in anger. 

"hey, baby," Steve says as he walks into the hospital room, holding a teddy bear. 

"Stevie!" Dally quietly cheers.

Steve walks over and sits on the edge of the bed, giving Dally the bear to hold with his uninjured arm, "how are you feeling?"

"I have a booboo," Dally says with a frown. 

"I know, baby," Steve says sadly, "I was really worried. I raced over here."

Dally's arm begins to ache again as he puts the bear down and starts to pull on the bandage, Steve stopping him, "Stevieee," he whines.

"You can't take the bandage off," Steve says sternly.

"why not? Dally asks softly with a pout.

Steve looks off to the side as he thinks for a moment, "well, you know how you like knights?" 

"Yesss," Dally says, a smile starting to form.

"Well, I have been waiting to tall you, but you're actually a knight. That's why you went into the fire to save Johnny, Ponyboy, and the kids. So, you have to keep the bandage on because it's your armor," Steve says.

"Really!?" Dally asks with a bright smile, "I'm a knight?"

"Yes, you're a knight," Steve responds with a chuckle, "but you still need to be careful when you be a hero."

"Okay, Stevie," Dally says with a smile, "Can knights still get cuddles?"

"Of course! Everyone can get cuddles as long as they say they want them!" Steve says as he tickles Dally, squeals coming from the little. 

Once Dally calms down, Steve climbs into the bed on the side of dally's uninjured arm, allowing Dally to lay on his chest. Steve pulls the blanket over the two of them as he rubs Dally's back soothingly and Dally plays with his teddy bear. A few moments later, there's a knock at the room door. 

"come in!" Steve and Dally say in unison.

Ponyboy, Darry, Soda, and Two bit walk in to the room. Ponyboy is pushing a wheelchair with Johnny in it. Johnny has a blue cast on his leg that causes Dally to gasp. 

"Johnny! You have a booboo!" Dally exclaims, pointing to Johnny's leg, causing the others to chuckle. 

"Yeah, I do," Johnny says, glad he's not the innocent one in the group. 

"What about you, Pony?" Steve asks?

"I'm good. It'll take some time for my lungs to recover, but they will," Ponyboy says. 

"Dallas, how do you feel?" Darry asks. 

"Sir Dally feels okay," Dally responds with a bright smile. 

"Sir dally?" Two bit asks Steve. 

"I gave in and told him he's a knight."

"Ahhh."

Ponyboy sits so that his weight is on Johnny's uninjured leg, Johnny's hand resting in the small of Ponyboy's back. Darry sits on one chair while Soda sits on another while Twobit sits sideways on his lap. 

"I am so thankful all of you made it out of that fire," Soda says quietly, Twobit holding his hand tightly, having been there when he heard Ponyboy was in a fire. 

"I'm glad all those kids got out," Johnny says.

A/N: Okay so it's short but I hope you enjoyed!!! Anyways, Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely hate how the book ends. And in the movie, I will always hate hearing them yell Dally's name, so I almost never write it that way. Also, I know you also requested a sickfic and I will write that asap I just got inspired to write this one this morning!
