________

Let's just get started where we left off.

Her thoughts swirled as she tried to recall gather events of the night before, her brain impulsively blocking them from view. What the fuck happened?

Last night...

Olivia was on the floor, her back supported by the bathroom wall as she waited patiently.

The click of the door had her rushing to conceal herself, having still not recovered a lot of the clothes that remained flung all around the room.

Much to her luck, the visitor was exactly who she'd been expecting, exhorting a sigh of relief as Minnie snuck back into the room, a plate in hand as she locked the door with the other.

She sat next to Olivia. "Chocolate-covered strawberries. It's the best I could do." She whispered as she placed the plate in between them.

"You don't have to whisper, Min." Olivia giggled, knowing damn well whatever they did earlier was far from whispering.

"Right, right." Minnie shook her head.

"Anyone suspicious?" Olivia takes a generous bite of her strawberry.

Minnie shook her head. "Got all my clothes on and... you barely touched my hair so..." she shrugged, taking a bite, "I just looked like I was smuggling food for personal reasons."

Olivia chuckled at that. Minnie kept her spirit.

So why was it so much harder for her to maintain her own? Oh yeah, that's right. Minnie left her. She got left. She got hurt.

"So... why did you do it?"

"Left?" Minnie winced.

Olivia only nodded in response.

"Felt like the only option." Minnie stared blankly ahead.

Olivia's heart could've toppled to the floor at that.

"Leaving me behind was your only option?" She didn't bother to hide her hurt or her shock.

"No! No. I just... I was acting on impulse... I always do that, it's a bad habit... self-sabotage and all."

"You're not telling me." Olivia was straightforward.

"Telling you what?"

"You're not telling me why."

"I-I just did."

"No, Min. You're telling me how. Your bad habits aren't what got us here and..." Olivia stood, gathering the rest of her clothes scattered on the ground as she slipped them back on.

"Liv-"

"...Until you get those and your reasons in check... I don't wanna hear from you."

Walking out the door hurt like a motherfucker. To shut Minnie out like that, Olivia wanted nothing of the sort. But she couldn't keep letting her in. Not unless she's willing to do the same.

With the shut of the door, she stumbled as she rested her back against it. Her hands covered her face, muffled sobs sounding as she tried her hardest to stifle them enough to walk out undetected.

Minnie, on the other hand, lost all will. She lost the willpower to follow, to stand, to breathe. She clutched at her chest as she cried, wondering if... wishing the pulse would slow to a stop.
