Chapter 12

With that, an over 10 year mark meant nothing to Tamaki anymore. He scheduled a mark removal, now all he had to do was tell Mirio. The two spent the rest of the exams with the least amount of communication. Mirio left his clothes by Tamaki's door so he wouldn't get sick, but the alpha himself didn't get clothes. He got sicker and sicker, making it a bit hard to do the exams and making it even harder to contain himself around the omega. He saw Yuyu and Nejire talking together. "Hado! Yuyu!" He yelled, waving at the two of them. The girls waved back and Yuyu hugged him. "Hey you!" She giggled, Mirio hesitantly hugged her back. He looked at Nejire who looked a bit down. The blonde didn't know how he didn't see this earlier. "Can you guys tell me how Tamaki's doing? Is he getting sick?" Mirio asked in a bit of a worry. Nejire held her head down and sighed. "No, but he's not being himself." Nejire told him, Mirio sighed then thanked her. "Yuyu, may I speak to you alone?" He asked. Yuyu smiled excitedly. "Yeah!" She was hoping Mirio would ask to further their relationship.

"We're not well for each other. I've come to my senses and I don't like you. I'm not even sure if I like women in general. Thank you for sticking with me even knowing that I'm mated but we need to break up. I do know someone that will love you more and longer than I ever could." He told her. Yuyu didn't cry. She didn't make a sound. Mirio pointed to Nejire and smiled. Before he could say a word, he went into a coughing fit and even began to cough up blood. Yuyu's eyes widened as she saw the blood and helped Mirio sit down. "S-sorry." Mirio apologized and wiped his mouth. He pointed to Nejire who was talking to someone else. "Hado's had the biggest crush on you since you guys became friends. She said she's afraid to ask you out since she's an alpha and you're a beta." Mirio told her. Yuyu blushed then hugged the blonde. "Thank you and Tamaki he- he's going to tell you something that will break your heart today. Just be ready, we tried to talk him out of-" Yuyu said, Mirio shook his head going into another coughing fit. "Whatever he says. I'll just be happy to talk to him again." Mirio said, looking at the blood he coughed into his sleeve. Yuyu sighed then they parted. Mirio was a single man now. He couldn't wait to tell Tamaki, of course it wouldn't fix their problem but he knew it would make Tamaki happy. The whole day went by. The last day of school was always so exciting, but now he is finishing high school.

"Tama!" Mirio yelled in excitement as Tamaki showed up to his dorm. He hugged him tightly and took in his scent. Tamaki blushed then hugged him back. "I really missed you." He murmured, Tamaki stayed quiet in guilt. His sleeves were covered in blood. He really just let the alpha get sick while Mirio was helping him stay healthy, but then he remembered his mission. "Yuyu told me you have something heartbreaking to tell me." Mirio worryingly said, he tried his best to not make it seem like it. Tamaki took a deep breath then sat Mirio down on his bed. "We're getting the surgery. I already scheduled an appointment two weeks after graduation. It's the surgery that needs us both there. The company is in Korea, so we'll have to travel there." Tamaki said in one breath. Mirio didn't react on the outside but on the inside he felt the broken pieces of his heart fall and dissolve into his stomach acid. He wanted to ask a thousand and one questions but if he did all the tears would fall too. He did nothing but nod his head and left.

"He looked so upset." Nejire said, coming out from hiding. Tamaki looked at the door as he thought about what just happened. "I- I'm really hurting him. Is this really supposed to help me?" Tamaki asked her. Nejire shrugged her shoulders then hugged Tamaki. "Just know the latest time to change your mind is during the surgery." She told him.
