My Best Friend | Kaedehara Kazuha x Reader

chapter 1 - meeting him

Chapter 1 and 2 of this story are set in the past to where you meet Kazuha, chapter 3 is in the present where you two are best friends. 


Y/N's POV

Where did that piece of paper go? I swear I just had it.. Did I leave it in the break room?? 

"Hey Y/N, are you busy?" 

"Oh, no, hi traveller and uhhh.. guy with white hair, did you need something?" I replied with a smile. 

"Yes actually, this is Kazuha, I'm here to see if you have any insight on an assaulter." they said. 

"Oh alright, come this way." 

I lead them to a private lounge room and sat them down across from me. 

"Okay, I need to know what the person looked like, what happened, when it happened and where it happened." I told them, picking up a pen and my notebook. 

"Well, I was just walking in Byakko Plain when all of a sudden, this person came out of a bush and attacked me! He was a samurai and the fighting style was really similar to Kazuha's and he wanted to know where Kazuha was so I went to find Kazuha immediately and now we're here. It happened around 30 minutes ago, the outfit was purple from what I remember." traveller stated, Kazuha looking at them wondering who could possibly want to attack him.

"I see, well we have had a lot of people asking for information on Kazuha, millions of mora has been offered! Of course, we denied anyone who asked for anything." I flipped the page and began to link everything I knew. 

"M-MILLIONS OF MORA??" Paimon squealed. 

"Thank you for looking out for my privacy." Kazuha smiled. 

"Yes of course, we don't sell people out, now, two people have gone missing for the city and may have some value in your case, the first one is a well-known collector, surname Nagato and the other is a samurai from the Amenoma Clan, Amenoma Yuuya, if you think the person who attacked you was a samurai, it'd be worthwhile for you to try talk to Amenoma Tougo and try find out the whereabouts of Yuuya, good luck to the both of you, please update me if you find out anything new." I informed them, nodding as I stood up and lead them out. 

"We will, bye Y/N!" Paimon yelled as I lost sight of them. 

Right, back to the previous case. Where did that paper go? I need it for my research on the chasm. OH RIGHT, I LEFT IT IN THE PRIVATE LOUNGE ROOM I WAS JUST IN WITH TRAVELLER AND KAZUHA. 

I went back to the lounge room and looked at the pinboard on the wall, scanning all of the papers until I found mine. Got it, back to my office now. 

Okay so the chasm was formed during the archon war 6000 years ago by a falling star.. Dunyu Ruins was also created by a fragment of the same meteorite. Then in the chasm's depths, there is evidence of an ancient society and the ruins are upside down.. Maybe this connects to the upside-down statue? 

I sighed and sat back in my chair, picking up my coffee and taking a sip. Research is exhausting. I stood up and pinned the ancient society next to the upside-down statue. I'll do more research on that later, I'll need to ask Yelan for more on the chasm, that's if she can tell me anything anyway. We do both work in the chasm sometimes so she should tell me something if I ask. I push the button to hide the work on my case and it replaces the pinboard on the wall with the case of Arataki Itto being in jail again for stealing some fruit. He'll probably be bailed out again so I'll leave that as it is. 

I walked towards my door and left, locking it behind me. Just as I'm about to clock out for the night, I see Paimon waving to me. I smile and walk over to them. 

"Hey guys! How'd it go?" I ask. 

"We figured everything out, Amenoma Yuuya should be home very soon, it was him that planned the attack on Kazuha, we didn't find anything out on the other missing person though" Paimon said, playing with her fingers. 

"Alright, I assume you've told Amenoma Tougo about Yuuya?" I say, leaning on the wall and crossing my arms. 

"That's where we are going now, you can close the case now, we'll be on our way to the blacksmith, goodbye Y/N." traveller spoke, nodding as they turned and Paimon followed. 

"Hey Kazuha!" I called out before he went with them. 

"Yes Y/N?" he asked. 

I wrote my number down on a piece of paper and gave it to him. His face began to fluster as he nodded thankfully. I waved him goodbye and started walking to Yoimiya's house, where I was staying while I was in Inazuma. 

I walked to the front door and unlocked it, entering and locking it again when I was inside. I waved to Yoimiya who was sat on the sofa reading a book from the Yae Publishing House and made my way to my room. 

Collapsing on my bed, I reach for my phone in my pocket and check my notifications. 

A text? Is it from Kazuha?

yessir, kazuha?

it is indeed, how are you?

i'm doing AMAZING, i finally finished a case i've been working on for months today and i also made a link in another one!

Kazuha

that's amazing! if you're not busy tomorrow night, can i take you out to dinner? i would like to get to know you better and there is no better way other than talking over dinner.

Y/N

oh.. alright sure, what time?

My face is flushed red at the thought of going to dinner with such a handsome man, is it a date? Is it just a friendly dinner? What does he want from this? 

Kazuha

7pm, I'll pick you up and we can eat at Uyuu Restaurant, will you be working tomorrow at 7pm or will you be at home?

Y/N

i'll be working, looking forward to it

He read the message and hearted it. Okay, it's just a friendly dinner, that calms my nerves a bit. I hope that in future we'll be good friends.

I quite like writing this book, I'm going to take down the Childe fanfic - it's probably already taken down if you're reading this - and rewrite it at a later date, anyway, I hope you enjoy the story!
