Chapter 11

"Okay guys, it was a lot of fun spending this time," Leeteuk said, "but it is almost midnight. Let's get some rest." "Yeah," Heechul added, "I need my beauty sleep! Good night guys! See you tomorrow!" and everyone started dispersing. Seoyeon and Renee also got up. Seoyeon said, "listen, I will go for a walk. I have the spare keys. You go and sleep." "Are you suuu... yaaawwwnn...re?" Renee asked, rubbing her eyes. "Yep! Sleep tight!" and Seoyeon walked away.

Eunhyuk noticed Seoyeon going in a direction different from where the rooms were. "You carry on, I will come back in a while," he said to Donghae. "Cool. Goodnight!" Donghae left with his guitar for the room.

Everyone had dispersed. Eunhyuk turned and looked around; he saw Seoyeon walking at a distance towards the darkness of the forest. He hesitated, but then started walking towards her.

Seoyeon was walking in the forest, feeling the peace of the atmosphere. She looked at the ground in the soft moonlight. She could see some leaves and pebbles on the ground, of beautiful shapes. She reached out to pick up a pebble, and started admiring it. She was enjoying the peace, but she was startled by a tap on her shoulder. "Aaaa!!" and she toppled and fell on the ground, her hands supporting her from completely rolling over. Her sight fell on blue converse shoes and traveled up the dark blue jeans to the bomber jacket to the face.

It was Eunhyuk, looking at her completely confused."What are you doing here?" Seoyeon asked, quite agitated. Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow, "what are you doing on the ground?" "Well, I fell over." "Well, what did you fall over for? Come on, let's not wait for the grass to grow!"

Few seconds of silence. Seoyeon and Eunhyuk looked at each other's faces and burst out laughing. "Come on, potterhead." Eunhyuk gave her a hand and she took it after clapping the dirt away. "You are the one to say!" "Guilty as charged." Both of them chuckled and started walking into the forest.

"So, what brings you to the forest? It is not really safe at this hour, you know." Eunhyuk expressed his concern, somewhat awkwardly. Seoyeon smiled, "I just like the idea of peace at night and this seemed like a good place to be." "Um hmm... Well, I would have left you to be, but it's not safe." Eunhyuk replied, looking in the other direction. Seoyeon fell silent. She could sense the concern in his voice. "Well, I appreciate the company. Shall we?" The atmosphere was once again peaceful and silent, as they walked quietly next to each other.

Eunhyuk broke the silence. "I have been meaning to say..."" Hmmm?" Seoyeon was walking with her hands behind her back, distracted by the ground. "You are a good dancer. You should try learning to dance." Seoyeon looked up at him with shock. 'So, this is what he was thinking?' She cleared her throat. "Uhmm..., I just do it for fun," Seoyeon said with embarrassment. Eunhyuk continued. "I saw potential. If you did that for fun, you have some serious potential. So, as per me, you should really think about it. Maybe it helps you express yourself?" "What makes you think that I don't express myself?" "You don't, I can sense it." Eunhyuk said, in a low voice. Seoyeon felt challenged, that someone had finally caught on. She diverted the topic. "Chuck that, I didn't know you could sing so well!" 'Nice try,' he thought. "You liked it?" "Of course! What was not to like? the atmosphere, the soft guitar, the soft song, the emotions in the song, your voice, the expressions on your face, your eyes..." Seoyeon shut up as she realised what she had just blurted in excitement. Eunhyuk looked at her with wide eyes. "I didn't know that you were paying so much attention." She knew there was no escape. She sighed. "Music always gets my attention. And, credit is to you, you were emoting really beautifully. So, I had to be driven in the song," she said softly, staring at the ground that took her steps. Eunhyuk smiled, "thanks." He smiled in response and they resumed walking, instinctively, deeper into the forest.

They were each taking one step after another, silently enjoying the moment while giving some passive attention to each other. Sometimes, Seoyeon would steal a glance at him, walking next to her with a look of peaceful calm on his face, observing the surroundings. A smile would appear on her face, and she would get back to looking forward. As if on cue, Eunhyuk would look at her, smiling softly. His eyes would capture that view and get back to looking at the surroundings.

... like this, they kept on walking deeper and deeper...

"Oh, look! A cottage!" Seoyeon said excitedly. Eunhyuk looked in the direction she was pointing; there was indeed a cottage. The glass doors to the entrance were surrounded by white walls, a contrast to the greenery and earthiness of the forest. "Let's go check it out." "Hey!" Seoyeon grabbed Eunhyuk's hand and dragged him to the cottage.

The cottage was minimalistic, made up of just the walls and glass door. The centre had a fireplace, to warm up the entire place; the walls had shelves with some basic necessities. There was firewood in one corner and a mat next to it. "It is so nice and cozy." Seoyeon said as she looked around. "It looks like someone maintains it," Eunhyuk said, examining the other side. "Let's rest here for a while, no one will come at this hour," Seoyeon said, and then added meekly, "and I am kind of cold." Eunhyuk sighed. He took off his jacket. "Here," he said, giving it to Seoyeon, "I will light the fire. Till then wear this." "No, no, it's okay..." Seoyeon stopped talking as Eunhyuk glared at her. "Fine, fine." She looked at the jacket and wore it; Eunhyuk noticed that the jacket was slightly loose on her. She was waving her arms as if she was flapping wings like a tiny chick. A smile drew itself on his face.

Eunhyuk lit the fire and spread the mat he found next to the fireplace. "Come, sit." He patted on the space next to him on the mat. Seoyeon, who had just been admiring the forest from the entrance till then, came in and sat next to the fire. The fire was growing and its warmth was filling both of them. After getting some warmth in her, she asked. "So, what got you interested in dancing? And singing?" "It's quite a boring story." "I am all ears," she smiled. Eunhyuk took a deep breath. "I was always an introverted kid, and my parents were not the happiest of the couples, if I may say so.. So, in order to stay away from the house, I just started going to after school dance class, and I realised that it helped me express my feelings and take out my negativity. So, I continued and now I can't survive without it. That's it." Seoyeon was taken aback by his frankness and subtlety. Clearly, he was underplaying it. But, she was glad. " Hmmm." a smile was all she did. " My turn." Eunhyuk declared. "What got you so interested in music?" " Hmmm..." Seoyeon became pensive. "So, when we were kids, my dad used to play songs all the time and dance with us on them. So, music has always been a safe haven." "Sounds like a very fond memory." " Yeah, it is."

A soft, comfortable silence filled the air, and they both took in the warmth of the flame. "I have an idea." Eunhyuk suddenly said. He got up and extended his hand to Seoyeon. "What?" "Get up, get up." Seoyeon took his hand, and got on her feet. Eunhyuk took out his phone and played the song 'Walkin' by Super Junior'.

"Come on, do this!" Eunhyuk showed Seoyeon a step. Seoyeon stared blankly at his face. "What? It is fun, come on!" and Eunhyuk started hopping. Seoyeon giggled looking at him, enjoying the sweetness on his face. Eunhyuk came to her, held her hand and started hopping. Seoyeon chuckled and started dancing cutely with him.

As the song played, they jumped around the fireplace, with the innocence and bliss of two children in the playground. Life seemed sweet and worry-free for some minutes, as they absorbed the beauty of every second in their soul. The song finished, and they landed back on the mat, panting and laughing. Once they settled, Seoyeon said, "that was fun!" " Yeah! See? Music and dance are so much fun!" " I am with you, with you, totally!"

They took some breaths, before Eunhyuk looked out the glass door. "It is almost dawn; let's go back to the resort." Seoyeon smiled at the view outside, along with him. "Yeah, let's."
