Chapter 14

It was late evening, and the cool of the night was settling in the air. The disc had been really fun and after an hour's break, they had settled in the bus to embark on their journey back. Seoyeon and Renee had settled in a pair of seats at the back, with their luggage placed nicely under their seat. Seoyeon was not going to make the same mistake and make a fool of herself again. Thus, she had decided against putting her bag on the rack above. "Is everyone settled?" Leeteuk asked; everyone nodded or exclaimed affirmatively. After being satisfied, he settled in this seat, and the bus began to move.

Soon enough, people started to sleep. The lights in the bus were dim. Seoyeon had taken the window seat again and was feeling the breeze of the evening. In the distance, as much as she could see, the clouds were dispersed, giving a beautiful view of waves travelling to the shore. Seoyeon smiled at the view and turned to show her best friend the view she was admiring. However, the latter was busy with her phone. Seoyeon took a peek and saw that she was texting someone. Donghae. Seoyeon chuckled in her mind, glad that her friend was getting some well-deserved attention. She decided to leave her be and took out her earphones to listen to some music.

Seoyeon was gazing aimlessly out of the window when she felt a tap on the shoulder. She turned her head and saw Eunhyuk standing next to Renee's seat, which was now empty. She took out an earbud, "hey, what's up?" "Nothing. Your friend and my friend wanted to talk without texting, so we had to exchange seats. Do you mind if I sit next to you?" "Oh, come on, chill. Sit, sit. One sec." Seoyeon moved her stuff a little away so that Eunhyuk could get more space. "That's all good. Not needed," Eunhyuk said as he settled in the seat and brought the handle down between them, clearly demarcating the space. Seoyeon was gladly surprised at his gesture; she smiled and complied. "So, what were you thinking about?" Eunhyuk asked sweetly. "Nothing." "You must have been to not realize that Renee had got up and I had come in." "Heh, true. I was just lost in the view of the sky and the music. It is quite nice." "It is. What are you listening to?" "Just some soft songs. Here," Seoyeon gave him one of her earbuds after cleaning it on her top, "if you don't mind sharing." Eunhyuk smiled and took the earbud from her hand. A smile continued to be on his face as he heard the song.

The song ended, and Eunhyuk said, "This is a really nice song. May I suggest something that you may like?" "Definitely. Here, put it on," Seoyeon handed him the phone. Eunhyuk searched for a song and played it.

They continued to listen to songs together, sharing music, snacks, and likings as the journey continued.

"Hey," Renee was standing next to the seat Eunhyuk was in. "Oh, hey, you're back," Eunhyuk said. He took out the earbud and handed it back to Seoyeon. "Thanks, it was nice." "Same. See ya!" "See ya." Eunhyuk smiled and left for his seat. Renee settled in the seat and asked, "So, what did you guys do?" "Nothing, just listened to some music and shared some chips. What did you do?" Seoyeon said with a grin and raising her eyebrows playfully. "Ah, you and your mind! Nothing, we did nothing. We just talked about random things. He is a good company." "Ahaan," Seoyeon grinned and winked at Renee again. "Owww!" Renee pinched her friend to quiet her down. They giggled and went back to their own things.

After some time, they were all at the office. It was nighttime. "All right, guys, since it is Sunday, we won't have office cabs," Heechul said. "So, ladies, please group with the gentlemen, and gentlemen, please ensure that the ladies with you reach home safely." Seoyeon looked at Heechul, instructing everyone. She was always glad to have leaders like Leeteuk and Heechul; they may bicker and nag but they were always very attentive and very understanding. She really appreciated them for who they were. "Ummm, I have my car in the office if you want me to drop you off." Seoyeon heard someone next to her. She turned and saw Eunhyuk standing next to her. "That's fine; I will go with Renee." Seoyeon looked around. "Where is she, though?" "Ah, she left with Donghae." 'Ah, that girl! I will kill her someday!' Seoyeon mentally facepalmed. She thought for a second, "Are you sure it is not trouble for you?" "No, I am fine. As long as you are." "I really appreciate it. My home is not far, really." "That's fine. I like to drive." "In traffic??" Eunhyuk chuckled. "No, not in traffic, but it's cool. Let's go?" "Sure, let's go."

They went to the underground parking lot, and Eunhyuk stopped next to a nice and sweet Kia. "Here it is," Eunhyuk said. Seoyeon was amused by the look on his face. He was very happy looking at his car. "You seem to be very fond of it," she remarked. "Oh yeah, I have had it for a decade now. I love this one. It is called 'Good Morning'." "I didn't know people name their cars," she said as she seated herself. Eunhyuk sat in the driver's seat after putting the bags in the back seat. "Oh yeah, it is the same as naming any other thing that you love - like bikes, stuffed toys, anything. Uh, seat belt?" "Oh yeah, sorry." Seoyeon reached out and tugged on the seat belt, but it won't move. "One sec, let me." Eunhyuk bent from his seat over her and tugged on the seat belt. Seoyeon could feel the closeness of his chest with hers. She tried to hold her breath so that she didn't touch him. Eunhyuk realized that their face was getting close, so he tugged on the belt with force. It pulled, and he clipped it in the hook. "Uh, sorry, it sometimes gets stuck." "Uh huh, no no, it's okay. Apparently, I have a nag of getting things stuck everywhere." "Huh?" Eunhyuk looked at Seoyeon with a confused look. Seoyeon closed her eyes and bent her head in embarrassment at what she had just said. After a few seconds, she raised her head and looked at Eunhyuk, "sorry." They looked at each other and burst out laughing. "Let's go." "Yeah."

Eunhyuk followed the directions exactly as Seoyeon gave. In the meantime, they talked about lots of random things. Mainly, it was Eunhyuk driving and Seoyeon pointing to places and giving tips - "Oh, this place serves really good barbeques, if you really like them, you should go", "don't EVVVEEEERRRRRRR go to this place, they are so unhygienic, I got food poisoning eating here just once", "oh, I LOVE this place; they make the best Irish coffee", and many more. Eunhyuk kept his focus on the road but smiled at her talks. He learned that she loved eating different kinds of food, as she kept on pointing out good eating places along the way. He also figured that Seoyeon loved her coffee. In the middle, Seoyeon would start humming to the song playing on the player. It was the same way she would do at the desk when she was deep in work. He was getting to know her, and he was enjoying it.

"Here, just here, yeah," Seoyeon instructed Eunhyuk as they reached the building. She got out of the car and closed the door. She peeked through the window at him with a smile, "Thank you for dropping me." "No problem at all," he smiled back. "See you tomorrow at the office, then?" "Yes, see you. Good night." "Good night."

They left in opposite directions, each with thoughts of the other in their minds.
