Chapter 12

"For the love of God, get up woman! We will miss lunch!" A pillow landed on Seoyeon's face. "Ah! Let me sleep!" Seoyeon threw the pillow on the floor and went back to sleep. Renee sighed, giving up trying to wake her friend, and left for the dining hall.

Renee sat alone at a corner table, surfing on her phone while eating. "You should give full attention to your food and not surf the SNS while eating." She looked up and was delighted to see the person in front of her. It was Donghae. Eunhyuk was next to him in shorts and a loose t-shirt, yawning. They sat next to Renee and started eating food.

"What happened to you? Why so sleepy?" Renee asked as the boys sat at the table. "Oh," Eunhyuk realized that he was the person she was talking to. "I came back to the room in the morning, so I didn't get much sleep. Donghae woke me up for lunch." Eunhyuk said, awkwardly trying really hard to concentrate on his food. Renee looked at him with mischievous eyes, "Oh, such a coincidence, Seoyeon also came in the morning. I tried to wake her up, but she didn't." Donghae and Renee looked at each other and smirked. "Oh? Really strange." "I know, right?" Donghae and Renee could not stop smirking as Eunhyuk tried his level best to ignore what his friends had been saying.

They finished their food, and Donghae said, "Do you guys want to go for another round of activities around the resort before we come back for the disc?" Renee almost jumped in excitement, "Yes, yes! Let's do it! Come on, Eunhyuk, let's go!" Eunhyuk pretended to be more interested in sleep than anything else. "Naah, you carry on; I want to go get some sleep." "Oh," Renee said with slight disappointment, "Okay, I will go and give Seoyeon food and come back in five. Donghae wait for me here na?" "Sure," Donghae said, giving his characteristic smile. Renee left, and the friends looked at each other. "So," Donghae said, "you and Seoyeon were out all night. What's going on?" "Nothing is going on. We just explored the forest and came back. It was a good friendly time. That's it." "You sound more defensive than you need to; you realize that, right?" Donghae said cheekily. Eunhyuk's ears turned red, "Whatever, man, I am going to get some sleep. Have fun." Before Donghae could say anything else, Eunhyuk got up to leave the room.

Eunhyuk crashed on the bed, flat, and stared at the ceiling. The memories of the night walk were still playing in his mind. He hadn't felt this peaceful and calm in weeks. The walk and the company both were circling his mind. His mind was running through the moments - the cathartic conversation, the innocent fun. He was surprised at himself that he had shared something very private about himself with her and hadn't hesitated for even a second. All this time, small interactions, a lot of work, and some play - he had become so comfortable with her. She had somehow given him a safe space to be himself and he was contented with it, which he hadn't realized till now. Most of all, her smile never left his mind. He had seen her calm smile, the way she had smiled with her eyes, happiness and joy in them. He had not met someone who still had that preserved in their hearts after reaching such an age. Perturbed by his thoughts, he pulled the blanket over his head to sleep.

Meanwhile, Seoyeon was twisting and turning in her bed. Since Renee had left her for lunch, she could not go back to sleep. Her mind was filled with the sweet memories of last night. She had felt a connection build between herself and Eunhyuk. He had shared something about his childhood that she didn't expect that he would. But his leap of faith had made her more appreciative and respectful of him. As much as she was thinking of his soul, his beauty didn't escape her mind either. Her eyes had caught his view in the moonlight, and she had been mesmerized by it, for lack of a better word. Surely, he was smart, fit, and good-looking, which everyone saw - but what had stayed in her eyes was the look in his. The look of appreciation of the peace and quiet, the concern in his eyes when he tracked her down, the innocence and purity in happiness as they had danced about, his encouragement of her when he observed her dancing. But most of all, it was his recognition of her emotions that he had caught on to. She remembered his low voice and his words, 'I can sense it'... She had felt vulnerable when he had said that. But somehow, she had also felt that she was with someone safe. She had felt a whole bag of sweet and good emotions in a matter of one night, and she didn't want to let go of that feeling just yet.

"Knock, knock," Renee declared as she entered the room. "Good, you are up. Here's your food. Have it and get some sleep. And be ready for the disc in full spirits! Yayayaya!" Renee started doing jestful steps, and Seoyeon couldn't help but laugh. After calming down, she finally asked, "What will you do?" "Oh, me?" Renee said shyly, " Donghae and I are going to go around the resort doing activities again." " Oooooo... sounds fun. Enjoy yourself! " Seoyeon giggled. Renee became flustered and stepped towards the door. "I gotta go now. You rest. Oh ya, Eunhyuk is also resting right now. He didn't get much sleep either." Renee winked, and Seoyeon's face turned red. She threw a pillow at Renee but missed. Renee laughed and launched out the door, leaving Seoyeon with her head buried in the pillow.
