A Day To Remember

CHAPTER 12: HIS PAST

"Is it tasty?"she eyed the ramyeon in his arms and pouted when he took it far away from her face. "Not like i wanted it, i'm just curious..."she muttered out. He stuck his touge out and continued eating the spicy noodles.

They ate in silence and finally finished their food after a few minutes. Jihyun sighed in relief. "Woah... that was good." Jeno nodded in approval while they both stared at the dark sky above them.

"The stars are so beautiful..."he commented. Jihyun smiled while she tried to count the shining stars but huffed when she failed. "How can you count stars, idiot?" Jeno deadpanned. She huffed again.

"But you..."she started off. He looked at her with raised eyebrows. "You never tell me about yourself. I'm sorry too... for touching your things that day... but that women in the picture really looks like you and she's very beautiful-"she hung her head low when she saw his sad eyes. "Ohh... i see..."

"No, it's okay. I'm fine about it."

She nodded and continued asking questions but this time she reminded herself to be careful with her words. "May i ask, how did she..."

"She died in a car accident after trying to save me."he answered without hesitation, making her smile sadly. She nodded again amd drank her apple juice. Oh, how bad she wanted those beers in the fridge...

Jeno turned back to the sky and continued to stare at it like nothing happened. "If you..."he heard her whispering beside him.

"If you need someone, i'll just be here and listen to your problems. I'm not that good in comforting people, but i'll just be here with you." He smiled with happy eyes while the girl grinned.

"I do need you."he replied.

"Why are you walking me home?"

Jihyun asked after Jeno walked out of the bus with her and said that he'll walk her home. He didn't answer her question and just walked past her to cover her front side.

Just then, she saw a drunk old man, probably a pervert, walking past them. But he looked at her and went when he saw Jeno's scary face. Now, she understood him.

She fasten her pace and walked beside him when he pulled her to the other side. And on the right time, she saw a group of naughty boys with tattoos all over their arms and faces walking past them. Thankfully, Jeno pulled her to the other side.

"See that?" He tilted his head to the boys's direction. "You're a girl, remember that."

He tried to sound scary but that made Jihyun smile wider and hugged his waist, taking him by suprise. She hid her smile when she could his body's warmth and thumping heart.

"Wh-what are you doing?"

"Saying thank you."

"Then why are you hugging me?"

"Cause i want to."she showed a satisfied smile when Jeno didn't answer anymore. Then she felt his hand curling her waist and tightened the hug while she did the same.

"I..."she heard his deep voice. "Can i say that i..."he broke the hug and looked at her right in the eyes. She blushed and gulped.

"Can i say that i don't need you, but i want you?" He was expressionless, but it was enough to make her face red while she blinked in confusion.

"Wh-what?-"

He pulled her nape and smashed his lips on hers as her eyes widen.
