A Day To Remember

CHAPTER 01: THE BEGINNING

Jihyun played with her breakfast while staring outside the window. Then, her eyes trailed on her new school uniform. And again... her family moved. This time from Busan to Seoul.

She was worried. The atmosphere here is very different from her old place. How can she find new friends when she already saw that the people here are not that nice. Especially highschool kids.

And because of this cruel life, she needs to move to a new school because her old school is far, far away from Seoul. She sighed as she saw her brother running downstairs and glared at him.

"Aish... you're so late."she commented. Her brother, Jaehyun scoffed. "Shut it, little sis."he took a spoonful of rice and shpved it in his mouth before messing with her hair.

Jaehyun is Jihyun's older brother who's currently studying in college in his second year.

"Hey, i need to go! See ya!"he said as he rushed to the front door and went out. She watched him until she heard the door closed.

"Aren't you going to school, honey?"she heard another male voice. She smiled when she saw her beloved father. She went to him and hugged him tightly.
"Yes..."she answered weakly between the hug.

"Why? Is something wrong?" Mr. Jung asked while caressing her hair. She shook her head and broke the hug. She fixed her uniform and smiled proudly. New school, new friends. New friends, new enemies. She's fully ready.

"Have fun with your new friends!"

Mrs. Jung exclaimed. Jihyun waved to her and stared at the retreating car. She took a deep breath while examining the big building in front of her.

She stayed at the same place while other students were passing to go to school. It was autumn, so dry leaves were falling around her. She grasped her skirt while thinking about her life decisions.

She slowly stepped forward, and her pace fasten as she entered the gates of Daewon high school. She walked through the big door and gasped at the big and beautiful hallway of the school.

"Wooww... is this a school or a mansion?" Now she understands why this is the best school in Seoul. She looked around, still with her mouth hung open. But she didn't realize someone was running to her direction.

"Ouch!"

She hit something hard and fell on the ground while touching her forehead.

"Oh my god, i'm so sorry!"

She felt a presence of someone kneeling down in front of her. She slowly removed her hands to look at the person's face. She blinked for a few times while the guy did the same.

"Are you okay?"he asked gently.

"Oh? Y-yes..."she answered while standing up from the cold floor. The guy still had a worried look on his face. Jihyun's lips formed a half smile to reassure him.

He sighed and wanted to walk past her when she stopped him. "W-wait..."she stuttered. The guy turned around and raised his eyebrows at her. "Can i help you?" Jihyun hesitantly nodded while avoiding eye contact with him.

"Can you show me the office?"

He chuckled. "Sure, but you need to follow me cuz it's pretty far away." She bowed to him as she thought he was a senior.

They were walking side by side to the office. She glanced at him from time to time because of the awkward silence between them. He also tried to ignore it but he can't help but feel uncomfortable.

"What is your name?"he asked making her eyes widen. She turned to him and answered. "Jung Jihyun..." The guy nodded and smiled at her. "I'm Na Jaemin."he offered his hand.

Suddenly, the flashback when she was five year old at the playground came to her mind without her knowing why.

"Then let's play with me!"

"Jihyun?" Jaemin waved in front of her face, making her jump out of her thoughts. She smiled awkwardly and accepted his hand.

They continued walking forward until Jaemin stopped in front of a big door suddenly. Jihyun who didn't expect it accidently his his back. Jaemin immediately turned to her and said sorry. And again, she said she was okay.

"This is the office. And by the way, are you new here?"he asked.

"Y-yes... "

"Ohhh... So have fun on your first day of school, Jihyun."he said in an encouraging and calm voice. She smiled at him and pushed the door open.
