Today was Friday, and also a snow day, so school was cancelled...finally! After two weeks of testing, this little break is exactly what I needed from the stress. I see Dave every now or so, but that's usually on the weekends when he doesn't have school.

I brought my laptop with me and was sitting peacefully at a table with my earphones on listening to "Shut Up and Dance", which is one of my favorite songs. Because of the good beat, I started to song the song carelessly and I'm pretty sure seven of the twenty-five people were watching me.

It took the second chorus of the song to make me realize that and I stopped. Part of me was embarrassed, of course, but a different part of me didn't care at all.

All of a sudden, I get a phone call from a number I didn't know. I pick it up, expecting it to be a prank call. "Hello?"

"Hi, is this Alissa?"

"...yes. Who may this be?" I asked.

"I'm calling you from Red Cross hospital. I'm sorry to say, but we have your mother as one of our patients. She was involved in a car accident."

My face went blank and I was speechless. I couldn't believe what I'm hearing.

"I-I-I...I'm on my way. Thank you," was all I could say before I threw my cup away and shoved my laptop into my bag while running out of the door. As I'm opening the door, I crash into a familiar body. I look up to see Cole, and he stares at my watery eyes and panicked face.

"Alissa, is everything ok?" His voice had a concerned tone.

"I'm f-fine. Is there any chance you can take me to the hospital quick? I need to visit someone."

His eyes opened wide. "Woah, what? Yeah, yeah, sure. Luckily, my dad drove me here. Come on!"

We go into his dad's car, having Cole quickly explain where I need to go and why.

Standing in front of entrance, I just stood still while Cole was behind me saying, "Don't worry, Ali. I'll be with you the entire time. If you don't want me to go in, it's fine."

I just whispered, "I want someone to be there so I can control myself," which trying to hold back further tears.

We then walked into the building and the lady at the front gave me directions to the room. Right before entering, I turn to Cole. "Th-thanks. For helping me after I avoided you this entire time. I was ju-"

"Alissa," was the first word he said to cut me off, "don't think about that right now. It'll only make it worse, ok?"

I just nodded and took a deep breath as I enter the room. I expected to see a her and maybe a doctor only, but there was someone unusual also standing near my mom's bed.

"Will? What are you doing here?" And I felt Cole's arms hugging me from behind, as if he's trying to protect me for some reason.

(A.N. : Hey! So I haven't updated since last month because I was still busy and I currently have personal problems I need to take care of, so I'm not going to be updated regularly just yet. Hopefully, everything will be ok soon, but aside from that, how is everyone's summer so far? And if you're in summer school, I feel you, but it at least helps you in a way. Ok, enough of my gibber-jabbering. Enjoy your summer and expect a few more chapters before school starts. See you in the next chapter. Bye for now)
