Something Selena was surprised to find out when you began to get to know each other more was your intense fear of dogs.

At first, she had felt a little confused as to how someone could be so afraid of such a cute and sweet animal.

But she never once judged you for it and coaxed you into opening up about why you were so afraid of them and it saddened her when you told her the story behind your fear.

Growing up, you had a neighbor who was extremely mean.

She had a few dogs and would let them out and near you to purposely scare you, as if your terror was amusing for her.

Those memories always stuck with you and the older you got, the more afraid you became.

That confession to Selena came a couple of weeks ago and tonight, she wanted to have a date night at her place.

However, being the dog lover that she is, she has a couple of dogs that she's adopted and they freely and happily roam around her huge home.

It was something you were extremely hesitant and afraid to agree to but since you've had a couple of dates at your place and none at hers, it was only fair that you went to her place, too.

She picked you up from your home and drove you to her place and she could sense the whole time that you were on edge, so she tried to calm you down by telling you about her dogs as she kept one hand on the wheel and the other on your thigh.

When she pulled the car into her driveway and took out the keys before leading you up the front steps, she kept her hand on the small of your back in comfort.

"It's okay, baby. I promise that they're good dogs, they won't hurt you."

Even though you trust her, it was still tough for you to come face to face with your biggest fear.

As soon as she opened the door, you heard the sound of paws on the floor as her dogs excitedly rushed to her.

They wagged their tails and nearly jumped on her, so happy that their favorite human was home again with them.

"My babies!" Selena giggled as she pet them.

She closed the door and then pulled at your hand gently, guiding you into the living room.

"I'll cook some dinner for us in a few. For now, though, do you want to sit and pet them?" She asked and you looked at her nervously before looking at the two dogs on the floor.

"I don't know. I'm scared." You said as you nervously stared at your fingers.

Selena wordlessly got up and grabbed one of her dogs from the floor before sitting back down beside you.

"This is Winnie." She said as she ran her fingers through the sweet pup's fur. "She's very friendly. Don't worry, she won't hurt you. I promise you that."

You looked at Winnie, slowly reaching your hand out to pet her.

And when you gently placed it on her back, she started to wag her tail excitedly.

"See? She's gentle." Selena grinned. "Aren't you, honey?"

You gasped as Winnie pulled out of Selena's grip and got onto your lap before she began to lick your hand.

You couldn't help the way that your lips started to tug up into a smile.

Your fears and nerves began to slowly fade away as Winnie cozied up to you and continued to be affectionate with you.

"She likes you!" Selena grinned brightly.

You couldn't believe how cute and how sweet Winnie was.

You've been so afraid for so long but you feel so at ease now and it was crazy how she managed to make you feel so calm so quickly.

"You're so cute." You said as you continued to pet Winnie, staring down at her as she put her paw over your hand.

Selena reached down for another one of her dogs, this one a cute little brown puppy that she named Daisy.

"This is Daisy." She smiled and kissed Daisy's head sweetly before Daisy pulled away and excitedly went to you and Winnie. "Wow, she doesn't even want to be with me right now!"

You laughed as both Daisy and Winnie licked you and curled up to you.

"Look how much they like you."

You laughed and affectionately pet and kissed them both.

"I like them too."

"See, darling? Not all dogs are scary." Selena said as she reached over and put her hand on your shoulder. "I'm sorry that you had such bad experiences with dogs in the past and it's perfectly understandable how that impacted you and made you so afraid of dogs. But these sweet furballs adore you. They won't hurt you. It's okay to let your guard down."

You took a deep breath and looked away from the sweet animals and at your girlfriend, noticing the stars in her beautiful brown eyes.

"You're right." You said. "I can't say I'm not afraid of all dogs now but I like them."

Selena's heart fluttered as you spoke to them and gave them lots of love.

"I'm so happy to hear that. But as much as they like you, remember that I like you even more." She said. "I'm crazy about you."

"I'm crazy about you too." You smiled back at her, finding comfort in the brush of her fingers across your shoulder blades as her dogs continued to curl up to you, helping you to let go of your fears and worries.
