Chapter 20: The Finale

Lorelei's POV

5 years later.

It's been five years. Five years since that incident. The incident that took Sigyn, Margarette, and Loki's life. In the end, Loki saved me. He took the bullet meant for me. I'm the one who should've die that day.

Surprisingly, Jamie survived, buti at hindi malala ang sugat niya. We met many times already, and everytime na magkita kami ni Jamie, she's still sorry for what she did. Sabi niya, hindi mapapantayan ng isang milyong sorry ang ginawa niya. Pero genuinely, inside my heart, I already forgive her dati pa.

Without Loki, the QED Club has disbanded. We focused on our studies, and I graduated with latin honors in college. Now, I'm currently working as an investigator. All of this because even now that Loki's gone, I still want to pursue his dream.

Biglang tumunog ang CP ko, it's a text message from the head of Crime Department. Mr. L.

From: Mr. L

Good Job Miss Rios. Another success for solving the crime behind the Plunderville's case. I'll send you a gift tomorrow.

Napafacepalm ako. Eto na naman. Everytime na may case kaming ma solve, Mr. L sends a random gift for me. Sometimes it's flower. Sometimes it's foods. Minsan mga random things kagaya ng relo or kwintas. He also often writes me love letters, sometimes depicting that he knows me.

If he's trying to court me, well he had no chance.

Because my heart is still being locked to the past. Someone who died a long time ago. After all these years, it's still him.

The head of the crime department never showed his face. We only communicate with him through text messages. We knew nothing about him, except that he's known as Mister L. Sometimes iniisip ko na si Luthor ito. Probably.

Speaking of Luthor, he's now working as a businessman. Noong first year sa Clark University, he is courting me. But after Loki died, he never showed interest to me again. I don't know why. Maybe it's because before Loki died, Loki confessed his feelings to me. Siguro he did it out of respect for his brother.

Ngayon papunta na ako sa Mendez Mansion. It's been five years already and it's a habit of mine to visit Loki's ashes tuwing death anniversary niya. I drove at the front of Mendez Mafia's gate and the security guard opened it willingly. I have free access to the mansion because I have Luthor's permission. But for five years of visiting Loki's grave, I never saw their parents. Baka pumunta sa ibang bansa.

I parked my car at the parking lot. Pagbaba ko, the maids greeted me with a smile. They've been too nice to me since day one. The butler opened the gigantic front door of the Mendez Mansion. As expected, the whole house is very neat and clean. In the wall, there was a family portrait of the Mendez Family. Sa ilalim nito is a table, along with Loki's photo and his jar of ashes made of gold.

"It's been five years, president", I said. Di ko napigilang tumulo ang luha ko.

"Akala ko we will be together working with the QED Club as Crime investigators sa future. But you left me! You left me investigating alone"

"Ma'am tissue po", sabi ng isang maid. "Mabait po talaga yang si Sir Loki. lahat kami nagluksa sa pagkawala niya"

I wiped my tears. Sabagay, a bucket of tears still can't revive him. I missed Loki, everything that we experienced together. For five years my wishes during my birthday, New year, or Christmas, is seeing him again. Kahit alam kong imposible.

My cellphone rang. It's a text from someone.

From: Luthor

Lorelei. I'm being assassinated by the mob of my business competition. Please send some help. There's about 20 of them here. I'm in grave danger now. I'm at the Paraiso Verde Resort.
