Giyuu's pov.

Oh... right.

"Then, I'll change them for you first," Giyuu said as he picked up a roll of white bandages.

"Alright..." Sanemi replied, propping his hands back onto the floor and crossing his legs.

Giyuu shuffled closer to him and knelt in a comfortable position. He began to unravel the bandages and slowly slipped Sanemi's bloodily stained, and worn-out yukata off his shoulders.  This revealed the many cuts and bruises he wore on his body. Giyuu stared at them for a moment, recalling what had happened for him to get them. He was glad that the humiliating blonde demon was dead and rotting in hell for the many things it had done to others and himself. Knowing that Sanemi had a larger wound on his stomach, Giyuu decided he needed to take off the entire yukata. He could feel Sanemi's eyes following his every move.

He pulled the entire piece of clothing off Sanemi's body, just leaving him with his underwear on. Giyuu gently tossed the yukata aside and kept his gaze down, focusing on the task while ignoring the alluring sight placed in front of him.

Focus... focus...

He became very concerned as the bandage was completely soaked with blood. Sanemi's wound could have potentially become infected if not changed any sooner. Giyuu slowly took more of it off, being careful not to hurt him. He delicately wrapped the fresh bandage around Sanemi's body with great attention. As a continued gaze lingered on him while he finished up dressing Sanemi's wound, a sudden nervous rush came through his body.

Why am I shaking all of a sudden?

"Hmm? Why are you trembling Sweetheart?" Sanemi asked teasingly as he picked up on Giyuu's nervousness.

"Sweetheart...?"

"Don't like it? How about my Darling?"

"I..." Giyuu was flustered to be called those pet names as even his mother would only call him merely by his name.

"C'mon Lovebug. What about Muffin? Honey Bunny?

"No! Those are..."

Kind of embarrassing... Well, the first two were all right...

"I'll make sure to call you those names in public!" Sanemi jokingly threatened.

"What!? No!" Giyuu shouted as his face burned in embarrassment.

"Well then there has to be another way to call you mine, Giyuu."

"I'm already yours, Sanemi..."

"I knew that."

Sanemi reached out towards Giyuu's hand, grabbing it towards his bare chest, then guiding it up his neck, grazing his Adam's apple. Giyuu's fingertips reached Sanemi's lips which curled ever so slightly so he could place a soft kiss into his palm. Sanemi stared suggestively into Giyuu with his eyes halfway shut, making his heart beat faster.

"Now let me change your bandages," Sanemi said in a low tone, still holding Giyuu's hand.

"..."

As Sanemi began to take off Giyuu's uniform to dress up his wounds, Giyuu felt a pair of hands gliding over his body, making a shiver travel up his spine. His upper body was now fully exposed for the other to see. It seemed to be an excuse for Sanemi to touch Giyuu just because he was aiding his wounds. However, Giyuu complied with no complaints as he took the opportunity to observe his lover in front of him.

His scars on his face...  what happened for him to get them?

"Hey Giyuu. Where's your haori? Did you find it after that night?"

"Yes..."

"Then why haven't you been wearing it? You could get it fixed."

"Well, I decided not to wear it anymore, but I'll still keep it around. I sent a crow to bring it back to my estate. Although it might have been quite heavy..."

"What? I thought you loved that thing. I've rarely seen you without it besides that one time we went to the festival."

"I realized that I need to move on."

"Move on from what?"

Should I tell him about my past?

"Hey, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," Sanemi said softly after sensing that he may have probed at a sensitive topic.

"I'll tell you..."

"I'm listening."

"When I was younger, my older sister, Tsutako, sacrificed her life to a demon, saving me the day before her wedding. Then I was taken under Urokodaki-san where I trained with my dear friend Sabito who died protecting everyone in the Final Selection. I was helpless and useless, just surviving off of the help of those close to me. You see, the red side of my haori was my sister's while the patterned side was Sabito's. I thought I was never meant to be the Water Hashira, but I've realized that I should live not just to survive. " Giyuu said then sighed out of the reminders of his cruel memories.

"Damn... I'm sorry Giyuu. When you said you weren't like the rest of us, I thought you meant in the way that you were better than all of us. I didn't realize you meant it that way." Sanemi apologized guiltfully.

"It's fine. I'm so happy that you and I are even together. Now I can focus on my present and future with you." Giyuu said as he pulled out his hairpin with intricately decorated crystals and delicate petals from his uniform which lay on the ground.

"You still have it?! I thought you lost it."

"Of course I still have it. I said I would cherish it forever..." Giyuu said as he smiled at Sanemi.

Sanemi suddenly embraced Giyuu with an overwhelming feeling of happiness. Giyuu could imagine Sanemi's beam as he hugged his waist. As Giyuu wrapped his arms over Sanemi's shoulders, the hairpin was taken out of his hands and placed delicately onto his hair once again.

"You know I was the oldest out of my seven siblings. My father would constantly lash out at my mother and when he was killed I swore to protect her and siblings. One day my mother didn't come home, so I left to search for her, but realized she had turned into a demon. She killed all my siblings except for Genya, who fortunately survived, but I'll never forget the moment when he called me a murderer for killing our mother."

Perhaps that's how he got those scars.

"Sanemi, I'm sure that Genya didn't mean that... After all, he is your family."

"I know he didn't mean that... I just don't want him to get killed. I can't take another loss."

"I'm sure he is capable enough since he is your blood.  If he is ever in the hands of an Upper Rank, I know you'll be there with him till the end."

"Hm... thank you Giyuu." Sanemi said as he considered Giyuu's words.

"Sanemi, it's getting late."

"Right... let's go to bed."

Both of them wore the new plain yukatas the old owner provided. With Giyuu to the right of Sanemi and their bodies facing each other, they embraced on the futon while dozing off into a peaceful night.

Or so they thought...

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry for the nearly 2 year-long wait. I have no excuses, but I am very guilty... :( Although it's been very long I don't think my writing has improved a lot. ☠ I had to reread my entire fanfic because I forgot most of the plot, so I hope I don't miss or repeat anything. Please continue reading as there are only two more chapters until this story is finished! Next is the long-awaited chapter "30!" (NSFW) 🎉
