ENJOY THE SILENCE
Jess drove Joyce back to her house when they finished their food. "So what's the plan for getting Will back then?" Jess asks parking the car in the driveway.
"I- I- I don't know! I'm sorry I just- hang on." Joyce slammed the car door behind her rushing into the house.
"Joyce? Joyce?!" Jess swung the door open getting out the car tripping once more forgetting the step down again falling on her knees. "Fuck sake everything!" jess mumbled o herself throwing the strap of her bag over her shoulder. "Joyce?! Joyce! What are yo-" Joyce rushed out of Will's room with the speaker, pressing play turning the volume up as 'Should I stay or Should I Go' played loudly throughout the house, Jess covering her ears.
"Come on! Come on!" Joyce yelled. "Talk to me! I know you're here!" Jess sat down covering her ears still as the music continued to play until it suddenly stopped. "Jess do you hear that?" Jess took her hands away from her ears as she heard clanging.
Jess followed Joyce as they walked closer to a wall hearing whimpering then a voice came from it. "Mom?"
"Will?!"
"Holy shit!" Jess gasped quietly as Joyce ran out the door continuing to call his name.
"Will! Will it's me it's Jess can you hear me?" Jess started tearing the wallpaper away, Joyce running back in helping her. "WILL!" As the wallpaper teared away it revealed another wall but it was see through and both Joyce and Jess could see Will through it.
"Mom! Jess! Jess please!"
"It's okay baby! It's okay. We're coming to get you." Joyce cried.
"Mom it's coming!" Faint growling could be heard behind him.
"How do we get to you Will?! Where are you?!"
"It's like home but it's so dark. It's so dark and empty. And it's cold! Mom! Jess please help me."
"Listen to me! I swear we're gonna get to you, okay? But right now I need you to hide?
"Mom, please?!"
"No, no listen! Listen, !- I- We will find you, but you have to run now! Run! Run!" Joyce yelled at Will as they saw him turn around running away.
"Hang on Joyce stand back!" Jess rushed to grab the axe that Joyce had left, swinging it at the wall continuously at where they had already torn the wallpaper, not noticing how the wall was closing up to it's normal state. Jess stopped when there was a fair big hole in the wall. Jess looked out just to see it's normal surroundings. "Shit." Jess sighed dropping the axe before kneeling down on the floor bringing Joyce into her arms letting her cry. "It's okay. It's okay, I've got you. I've got you."
They stayed there for at least an hour until Joyce pulled away. "You should be heading back Hop would be wondering where you are."
"And leave you no way! But do you mind if I use your shower I've been wearing theses clothes for two days, I'm worried I smell." Jess smiles.
"Yeah, I mean you don't but yeah you can use my shower."
"Thanks." Jess smiled going into the bathroom starting to run the shower, Joyce knocked on the door.
"I uh I've got some spare clothes for you- I mean you said that you've been wearing yours for 2 days so I thought you'd want some new clothes." Joyce stuck her hands through with clothes in hand, through the small gap she made.
"Thank you." Jess chuckles quietly to herself. When Jess finished in the shower and got changed into the clothes Joyce had given her she stepped outside to hearing another voice, that was neither Jonathan's or Hopper's.
"Well. Well. Well. If it isn't Hopper's lil sis?" None other than Lonnie Byers turned round making less feel like her lunch was going to come up that instant. "Jessica Hopper."
"It's Jess." Jess corrected.
"Same old Jess I remember. It's good seeing you."
"And it's terrible seeing you too." Jess smiled sarcastically.
Lonnie chuckled but Jess could tell he was trying to keep his anger in. "Excuse I'm just going to the toilet." Joyce excused herself.
"Don't worry babe." Lonnie smiled there was silence between Jess and Lonnie till he broke it. "Hey Joyce told me how much you've been here for her. And I really appreciate it but uhh it's time to back down down."
"Excuse me?" Jess crossed her arms.
"Back down!" Lonnie got right into Jess's face. "That's means fuck off! I don't need you putting these ridiculous ideas into her mind and encouraging them. Don't think I forgot about high school you tried to drag her away from me."
"Because you're a no good lying piece of shit!" Jess spat as Lonnie raised his hand at her. "Yeah go on hit me like you used to hit her!" Lonnie smacked his hand across her cheek. "Like I said same old Lonnie Byers. Can't keep his temper and always stinks of alcohol."
"Get out of my face and get out of this house. If I see you anywhere within five feet of Joyce you'll be sorry."
"I hope you burn in hell." Jess mumbled to him as she stormed out driving back to her and Hop's trailer.
"Where's Jess?" Joyce walked out of the bathroom after also changing into more comfy clothes.
"Oh she had to go home, Hop called her on her walkie."
"Oh, okay." Joyce stuttered.
"Come on it's okay you might see her tomorrow at the funeral. Come on and sit down and relax."
Jess knew Hop wouldn't be home, so she went the second place where she felt safe, after getting her black dress from the trailer for the 'funeral' she drove to the Henderson house. She rung the doorbell to Dustin's Mum opening it. "Hi hun. Oh my god! What on earth happened to your face?"
"Oh I'm just clumsy I fell, missed my step and landed right on my front." Jess faked a laugh. "Do you mind if I stay the night? Hop's not back for some reason and I don't feel that safe with everything that wen ton with Will."
"Of course hunny. Come on in, the guest room is always ready for you."
"Jess!" Dustin yelled running up to her hugging her instantly.
"Hey sweetie. How you doing?"
"I'm okay." Dustin shrugged. "I mean I'm sad really sad, I've spent most of the time in my room, you know... crying,... alone... with my feelings." Dustin stuttered as Jess tried not to laugh, winking at him knowing he was faking it, knowing he believed Will was still alive like her.
