EDDIE was sat his van outside the roller rink, his eyes kept looking and hoping to see Brandy. He didn't know why he was so eager for her to arrive, he didn't really know how to skate. Nor did he know whose party it was, but regardless, he was keen on seeing Brandy. Even if he talked to her every day at school and got her for a few hours on Wednesdays, hell sometimes on Thursdays if he dare ask, not to mention the little chats they had on Fridays after his club meetings and her cheer practice. The chats that made it feel like his world stopped spinning.
Maybe it was that she was willing to be seen with him, after all, plenty of people came to the roller rink on Saturdays. It made him oddly restless, that others would potentially see them together outside of a tutoring situation. But it was restless in a good way, one that made him so squirmy from the excitement that he felt like he needed to take a lap, that and the thought that he was her first choice. Now that was something that elevated his heart rate.
Or perhaps it's that he just liked to be around her. If you had told him before actually knowing Brandy that he would feel the way he feels, he probably would've been borderline repulsed at the thought. Sure she was attractive, and she was relatively civil the few times she spoke to him in classes years prior, but people change, and he would've never imagined somebody so high up in the Hawkin highs hierarchy to be so kind. But Brandy herself was just so intoxicating to him.
He would've never predicted it, but most people say that with most things they find intoxicating. Most people hate the taste of alcohol, until it makes you feel good. Most hate the smell of marijuana, until suddenly you're too euphorically high to smell it at all. It was about how being around her felt. He felt elevated. In general. His feelings, how above content he felt in her presence. Everything from her face, to articulation in her voice, her melodious laugh, her scent, even her sarcasm, albeit he was at the brunt of it.
Eddie could be dirt poor, homeless with only a shirt on his back, but Brandy made him feel like the most opulent man on earth... Maybe he was delusional, his head full of outlandish and absurd sentiments. But he would live in his fantasy land, even if he felt that one day she would catch on to his feelings. Perhaps Brandy would feel similar, or maybe she would pretend she wasn't aware, disregarding them completely, or she might even be freaked out. But he would live in a wonderland until that day came.
Eddie had long come to the conclusion and acceptance that he had a massive crush on Brandy. He was quick to get attached to people, it was a fault he must admit. The real nail in the coffin was when he realized most of his thoughts were consumed by her, maybe it was the sheer amount she was involved in his life. He couldn't even take a pop quiz without thinking of her, even his dreams were full of pleasant phantasmagoric images of her.
His stomach twisted as he saw her through a car window, the car pulled up to the front of the skating rink. Brandy got out of the car, neon lights from the brightly lit signs shining down beams of purple, pinks, and blue onto her lustrous golden hair. She turned around, looking for something, a smile reached her face as she made eye contact with him through the windshield. Eddie took a moment to register that he should probably smile back, he had just started at her through his brows with a nearly trepidatious blank stare.
The girl all but skipped over to the van, Eddie rolled down his window a crack, grabbing a cigarette to ease his stomach. "Sir, you can't park here," She said to him in faux seriousness.
Eddie just smiled at her, lighting his cigarette. "Sir?" He questioned. "Why Brandy, you make me sound like a law-abiding citizen."
"Well come on, sir." the girl opened his door, pulling on his jacket sleeve. "Suck that cigarette down, I wanna skate." Brandy grinned with raised eyebrows.
