"Guys! Guys, do you copy?" Robin called through the radio, waiting eagerly for a response.
"Yeah, over."
"Yes, we're here. What's wrong?" The others answered quickly, Robin glancing at Eddie before continuing to speak.
"It's... a little hard to explain. Just meet back at base and you'll see for yourselves!" She chewed her lip, watching as Steve and Dustin helped Eddie up.
"Alright, copy that."
The four of them struggled their way through the forest, light slowly creeping away, creating shadows in the corners nobody noticed.
Eddie flinched at every sound, glancing over his shoulder momentarily, running into Steve."Woah, you okay?" He asked, uncertain.
"He's going to come for me, you know. He'll just bring me right back here." Eddie murmured, gritting his teeth slightly as they continued walking.
The remaining glowing light made Eddies eyes shine bright like Steve remembered, as soon as Eddie would enter the room the mood would change for the better. Always. He couldn't help but stare in disbelief as Eddie trudged through the muck beside Dustin."-If he can give it up.. Right Steve?" Robin nudged his elbow lightly, a tinge of humor in her tone.
"What?" He furrowed his brows, too unfocused to remember the first half of her question.
"Oh, I was just saying how you'd probably have a hard time parting with Eddies vest." She teased, earning a deadly glare from Steve.
"I'm sure we can share." Eddie said, not even bothering to turn around, but Steve could tell by the sound of his voice that he had a snarky grin plastered across his face.
"How much longer are we walking for, Harrington?" He asked now, fiddling the material on the vest that hung comfortably on his body."Well, considering we've been walking for a while, I'd say not long."
"That's not really a proper answer." Dustin said, matter-of-factly.
"Are we lost?" Robin turned her head to face Steve,
"No. I said we're almost there, we aren't lost. Why can't-"
"Oh, we're definitely lost." Dustin shook his head, a smile creeping up his cheeks.
"Guys, I-"
"You can't get out of this, Vest-Stealer, You got us lost in the first place." Eddie grinned, containing his laughter. Steve scoffed, crossing his arms at the fact they were all teaming against him.
"First off, I didn't steal it, I was looking after it. Secondly, we aren't lost and-"
"- 'I can prove it, look, there's Eddies caravan!' " Eddie mocked, his voice high pitched and filled with laughter as he raced Dustin towards the large van, a line of trees filling the backdrop.
"I don't sound like that!" Steve grumbled, him and Robin catching up to the two now.
"Oh, you do." Dustin slapped Steve's arm, signifying he'd lost.
"I hate you guys, I really do."
"Nah. you love us." Robin snickered as they flicked on their flashlights and shoved open the caravan door.
"Finally! We've been waiting for a good hour for you to get here." Will sighed in relief, eyebrows furrowing at the sight of Eddie.
"Holy shit." Mike looked Eddie up and down, jaw dropping.
"Guys... This is Eddie, Eddie... This is the guys..." Dustin stepped aside as the group stood awkwardly.
"uHhm.." Eddie licked his lips, "Hey." He half waved,
"Eddie- how are you... How did you-" Lucas looked him up and down, pointing to the scars on his neck, "Is that- Is that the.. you know.."
"Battlescars? Uhuh." Eddie grinned, nodding.
"Never thought I'd get to meet you, man." Jonathon stuck out a hand and Eddie shook it with a smile, Nancy pushing through the group and hugging Eddie tightly,
"What the hell, you idiot?" She said, voice muffled.
"Yeah, sorry 'bout that." Eddie smiled, noticing an uncertain El standing beside Mike.
"Woah, are you the magic one? I've heard like.. lots about you." Eddie walked over cautiously,
"Cool hair, I used to look like you. But not as... cool." He beamed,"Pretty bitchin' right?" El smiled, Mike matching it.
"Yeah.." The group chuckled, making their way closer to the gate in the caravan,
"Very... Bitchin'." He agreed."Let's get the hell out of here." Nancy walked over to the rope hanging through the portal. As Eddie walked over, he felt his head spin slightly.
"Woah.." He grabbed Dustin's shoulder, trying to blink the fuzz from his eyes.
"You okay, Eds?" Steve asked, the others already starting to climb the rope one by one.
"Yeah, you?"
"I'm fine." He smiled, "You should go before me, though." He nodded towards the rope.
"Why, think I can't climb a rope?" Eddie leaned towards him, hand clenched on the rope in hopes he wouldn't collapse.
"You sure you're okay..?" Dustin questioned,
"I said I'm fine, Harrington." He spat,
"It's Henderson. And you should lay down."
"Same thing." Eddie stumbled slightly, his ears ringing. Dustin grabbed Eddies free hand and led him to the side.
"What's going on up there? Everything okay?" Robin asked, standing on her tippy toes.
"Uh, we're having an Eddie situation." Steve responded.
"What does that mean?" Will questioned, "Should we be worried?"
"No, we've got it covered-" Eddie replied, rather loudly.
"Is he drunk or something?" Mike turned to the others who were safely on the other side of the gate.
"I don't think you can get alcohol in the Upside down, Mike." Lucas groaned,
Eddie's hand shot up to his mouth, feeling his fangs expand slightly. His eyes widened, pushing Dustin and Steve away.
"No, leave, it's happening again-"
"We aren't leaving, I promised you'd get back home, Eddie." Dustin stepped towards him, but Eddie stumbled away, his eyes flashing red.
"Shit. Eddie, hurry up, we'll get you some place safe.."
"Why can't you just get yourself some place safe? I don't want to hurt anybody!" Eddie yelled, his throat raspy.
"You won't! I promise we'll keep everybody safe." Steve took Eddies hand in his and lead him over to the rope. "Guys, clear the mattress!" He shouted, everybody stepping backwards in concern.
Eddie hauled himself up towards the other side, falling on his back with a groan. He rolled out the way and onto the ground so the others could pass through, his heart racing.
He could remember his eyes drooping slightly, maybe he passed out for a second, but now they were all making their way to the pizza van outside."Wait." Jonathon said, turning around. "He can't come with us." He glared, pointing to Eddie.
