Eddie faced the wall, both fists clenched, his shoulders heaving up and down. He looked the same as when they'd found him in the Upside down, the rim of his eye's were red and his fangs peering from his opened mouth.
"Eddie... You're okay, it's just me now." Steve soothed, his back pressed against the door so they were as far away as possible.
Eddie was fighting for control as he inhaled the haunting smell of blood and saw nothing but the fuzzed painting of the world before him. He gritted his teeth and tried to focus, feeling nothing but miserable as he prayed he wouldn't turn into that... thing. He felt the scars on his chest burning violently and his eyes watered, hearing Steve's distorted voice, yet he didn't dare turn to face in, scared he would hurt him.Meanwhile, Steve was standing cluelessly as he listened to his friends voices behind the door, hoping Eddie would snap out of it as soon as possible. Steve was already sweating and his hands were shaking, watching Eddies every movement carefully.
"I can't be here, Steve-" Eddie glanced quickly over his shoulder, eyes still glowing and head still spinning. His voice was no longer half merged with Vecna's like it was the first time they saw him in this state.
"No, Eddie. This is where you belong.." Steve stepped towards him, in hopes he'd calmed down enough to have a conversation. As he reached out his hand to Eddies shoulder, Eddie jerked away and coughed slightly
"I might hurt-"
"I don't care." Steve grasped Eddies hand anyway, spinning him around to see sweat pouring from his face. "I told you we'd look after you, and that's what we're going to do." Steve promised.
"It's my fault we didn't win.. If I wasn't there then Vecna wouldn't have had someone to put his power into.." Eddie leaned into Steve's shoulder, starting to return back to normal.
"That isn't true. You're a hero, you saved all of us." Steve wrapped his arms carefully around Eddie and felt tears seep into his shirt.
"Not Max." He said, voice muffled.
"That wasn't your fault, you weren't even there."
"But I-"
"Eddie! Will you just shut up?" Steve breathed a laugh and felt Eddie relax, wrapping his own hands around Steve loosely.
They pulled away, Steve sharing a soft smile, but it dropped as Eddie's eyes flashed a glare of red again, so Steve grabbed Eddies shirt (That was his, by the way) and pressed his lips against Eddies tenderly, before spinning and opening the door, everyone standing there."What was that for-" Eddie stood with wide eyes, the rest of this group confused and unsure.
"Just in case." Steve turned back to his 'friend', who was pink in the face.
"Eddie!" Dustin screeched, launching himself into Eddies arms and hugging him tightly, "Stop scaring the shit out of me." He ordered.
"Will do." Eddie whispered, still stunned.
"Okay, Steve, Eddie. We have some news to... I guess, share." Robin glanced towards Nancy worriedly.
"Yes, right. Erm.. Eddie, the boys did some research while you were in there.. and, you know."
"Know what?" Steve raised a brow, each individual seemed concerned. Silence filled the cabin for a good minute, before Mikes voice filled the room.
"You're a vampire." He said, a little loudly considering it was quiet.
"We think." Will corrected, looking at Eddie.
"Oh shit." Steve scratched his neck, slightly confused. "And how did you come to this?"
"It's the same with the demogorgans. And Demodogs.. And-" Dustin started,
"It all links back to the Upside down, and the bats. Eddie may have died, but Vecna needed him." Mike finished, Dustin looking displeased.
"Right. So, if I'm a Vampire.. Do I just- Only drink blood, there's no other side effect, right?" Eddie played with his hair, waiting for a response.
"Well, apart from your eyes, cool ass fangs and trigger being blood, that's all we know." Dustin took a sip from his drink as Eddies eyes made their way over to Joyce.
"Are you sure you're okay, Mrs. Byers?" He asked, eyes big and brown like they used to be.
"I'm sure, Eddie. And call me Joyce." She smiled sweetly at him and he sighed in relief.
"Can we have a word?" Hopper glared towards Steve, and he nodded in return. Suddenly Joyce appeared infront of Hopper and stood on the tip of her toes to pull a beanie over his head.
"It's cold out there." She smiled to him, leaning closer, "Be nice." She whispered this time so that nobody else could hear.
The two made their way outside and Hopper cleared his throat.
"Vampires now, huh?" He grumbled, Steve sighed,
"Look, man. We couldn't just leave him there, he's still in there." Steve, though being much smaller in size, didn't hold back when standing up for his family.
"I hope you know that if he goes wild and nobody is there to protect him, I won't hesitate in putting my friends first." Hopper responded, lighting a cigarette and offering it to Steve.
"No, thanks."
"Good answer."
