"Morning, Miss Anderson." said the first officer as she pushed past me and walked into the house, followed by everyone else. As Aston walked past me, I noticed his eyes were puffy and red - definite signs he'd been crying.
"Um, anyone care to tell me what's going on?" I said in confusion as I shut the front door before taking a seat in the open living room, where everyone else seemed to have made themselves comfortable.
"We have an update on your friend, Jonathan. A sighting, actually." began one of the police officers. I noticed Aston put his head in his hands - he looked so restless. Looking down at him, I grabbed his arm and placed it inbetween us before taking his hand to comfort him.
"Continue." I said sternly. I wasn't in the mood for waiting.
"We had a call from someone in a town about 20 miles away. They saw your friend get out of a protected van with 2 other men, before being taken into the house opposite their own. They sent us pictures, and it's definitely Jonathan." they explained. What the hell? This sounds exactly like my dream.
"And? What's at the house?"
"That's the thing. Nothing. There's absolutely nothing there, no traces of activity what so ever."
I stared at the floor as I tried to process everything I had just heard. How was that possible? At that moment, I felt my whole word turn upside down. Nothing was ever going to be the same again. I was still completely out of it when Oritsé wrapped his arm around both me and Ast, pulling us into a hug. "This was as much of a shock to us as it was to you. Our lives have turned into emotional rollercoasters, and it's just beginning."
I drew in a deep breath as I stood up and thanked the officers for coming by. They told us they'd definitely be in touch as soon as they find out any information, and that all we can do for now is wait. Again. I said goodbye to Oritsé, Marvin and Milly as they had to be home otherwise their parents would be wondering where they were. As for Aston, I told him he could stay for dinner as I didn't feel he was in the right state to be alone.
"Ast..." I whispered as I took a seat next to him.
"Please don't." he replied, "I don't want sympathy, this isn't about me. It's about Jay."
"As long as we have each other, we'll be okay." I said, although I was only hoping it was the truth. Suddenly, he threw his arms around me and held me as close to his chest as possible.
"I'm so thankful for all of you. You know I am. I love you, Marv, Reesh and Milly to the moon and back." he sighed, "And I know that Jay knows we all love him, we won't rest until we find him and he's back in the safety of his own home. But face it Taylor, there's no going back. Everything has changed for us now."
