Now was not the time to be scared. I washed all traces of fear from my body and grabbed the nearest weapon - the lamp from the hall. Gripping it in both of my hand, I slowly walked down the stairs.

I could hear someone moving around in the kitchen, like they were rushing... But I couldn't let that scare me. I edged around the doorway, afraid of what was going to meet me.

The lamp landed with a clash as I dropped it to the floor, a large crack spreading up the side of it. Without thinking, I ran up to Aston and threw my arms around him, almost bursting into tears.

"Oh my God, Taylor are you alright? I saw someone jumping out of your window and came straight here." he said as I finally loosened my grip.

"I'm fine... I think." I slurred. Was I 'alright'?

"What happened? Did they steal anything?" questioned Aston, trying to look into my eyes and lifting my head up every time I tried to look away.

"No..." I sighed, "But they left something behind."

"What?"

"Well it's gone now... They were upstairs, they'd written on the bathroom mirror..."

"Taylor please! Tell me! Did they threaten you?"

"They wrote 'You're on your own now'. I don't know why. Am I on my own?" I started to tear up.

"No. You never will be, no matter what happens. You know I'll always be here." I pulled him into me and hugged him again, before I started sobbing. My head was resting on Aston's shoulder, and that's when I saw it. Well not it, but him. Out of the corner of my eye, through the window.
