**Next Day**
Our flight tomorrow is in the morning. Good for me, because I don’t have to go to school. Today is my last day to see all these obnoxious people. Thank God. I’m packing tonight so I don’t have to get up super early in the morning to get all my stuff ready. Unlike Deena, she has to look perfect all the time. I swear if she didn’t have make-up on, she wouldn’t leave the house. Deena and mom were discussing what time Deena was going to get up in the morning. Deena said she was going to get up at 4 O’clock so she can curl her hair, do here make-up, and paint her nails. We are going to be on a plane for over 10 hours. Why on earth would somebody want to do all that work just to sit down for all that time? She is so stupid sometimes. Well just kidding pretty much all the time.
I am being smart and packing tonight. I am not putting on any make-up I am putting my hair in a bun, and wearing sweats. I am laying out my clothes so I can wake up as late as possible. “Knock Knock.” My mom said as she walked into my room. “Oh, hey.” I replied in a low tone. “What doing on kid, you’ve been very quiet lately.” She seemed a little concerned about me. “Everything’s fine mom, I’m just fed up with Deena, she is so mean to me. And you don’t do anything about her.” “I’m sorry Ashley, your father and I don’t really pat attention to her. “I can see that.” I whispered under my breath. “Well we will all be with your grandmother and her husband? So you won’t have to deal with her as much.” “But she is going to drag me to those clubs with her.” I snapped back “Well your sister can’t go alone! Do you want her to get kidnapped?” she raised her voice at me. This is what I hated about my parents, one minute they would be totally sympathetic then they would turn on me.
She got up and left after I didn’t say anything. I really love my parents, but sometimes I feel like I was just an accident. They favor Deena. Whenever I ask they always say it’s the other way around. It’s really hard to believe them, judging off of how they treat Deena.
**At School**
“Hey Ashley! All ready for London?” I heard Kylie say coming up next to me.
“Yep, all packed and ready.”
“I’m really going to miss you girl. You’re like my partner in crime here. In this prison.” She chuckled.
“I’m going to miss you to Ky. But I won’t be gone that long. And plus there is FaceTime!” I said with excitement.
Whenever I’m with Kylie I seem to be a much happier person. She has that effect on a lot of people. She’s always happy, which makes me really happy. I can only remember one time when Kylie was really upset.
**Flashback**
I am at Kylie’s house it’s Saturday night. Her parents aren’t home, so it was just Brad (her brother) Kylie, and me. Kylie and her boyfriend Daniel are fighting, that’s the reason she called me over. She was upset about it. Daniel went to a party the last week, and there have been some rumors that Daniel kissed one of the girls on the cheer team that neither Kylie nor I like. I was worried that this rumor was true. I never liked Daniel, but I was supportive for my friend. Kylie and I are lying on her couch watching The Lucky One, and her phone lit up on the other side of the room. She got up to go check and see who it was. Next thing I know Kylie is in tears reading this text message from Daniel.
“Kylie, I can’t believe you would actually think I would do that. You are the worst girlfriend I have ever had! And to be completely honest I never really liked you I just felt bad for you. And just for you assuming I kissed her, I will go kiss her. Because I like her more than I have ever liked you. Were done! Goodbye.”
The text Kylie sent to him said,
“Hey Daniel, I have been hearing some rumors that you kissed Michelle on the cheer team is that true?”
Daniel over reacted once again. He liked to drink even though he was only 16. It didn’t really make any since why Kylie would date ever date him.
Kylie wasn’t just sad about this text from Daniel, she was very angry. I could see it in her sparkly blue eyes. More tears were forming. Being her protective best friend I took her phone out of her hands and started typing away.
“Daniel, this is Ashley. I don’t appreciate you talking to Kylie this way. You can go do what you want with whomever you want. Just know that the next time I see you your face won’t be looking very good, not that it looked good before or anything. You are an ass hole and I hope Michelle smacks you so hard you can’t feel your face. Good bye.”
That probably wasn’t the best thing for me to do, but I really didn’t care. Daniel deserved it. As for Kylie, she did not deserve to be treated that way. I had my arms wrapped around Kylie, just letting her cry on my shoulder. I started to cry just knowing my best friend was hurting. I was seriously going to mess this kid up.
Brad walked into the room taking a glance at Kylie and me. He saw that Kylie was crying so he started to walk towards us.
“Kylie, what’s wrong?” he asked softly.
“D-Daniel, broke u-up with m-me.” It was hard to make out what she just said, he seemed to have understood her though.
“Well why?”
“Because he is dumb and has no respect for girls.” I said handing him Kylie’s phone.
He stared at her phone for a minute reading the texts. Big brother mode is about to kick in. I can feel it.
“Kylie I’m really sorry. Daniel is stupid for doing that. If you need me to do anything, anything at all. You tell me. And I mean ANYTHING.” He put emphasis on that last anything. Probably meaning he would beat him up. With pleasure.
“Thanks Brad. I’m okay right now though. Ashley’s got me”
“Alright, I will be right in the other room. “
**End of Flashback**
Kylie and I are best friends; I would do anything for her. I’m going to miss her. But I really needed to get out of California.
