It’s about 5 O’clock in the morning. I just woke up to leave for the airport. I have a knot in my stomach. don’t think I have ever been more tired in my entire life. I don’t even wake up this early for school. I wake up, and give myself enough time to pee, brush my teeth, brush my hair and get dressed. That only takes me about 20 minutes. I sleep as much as I can. At least I don’t have to wake up that early in London, even though the first couple of days are going to be hard adjusting to the 8 hour time difference.
Deena is still in the bathroom touching up the loose curls in the back of her head. Mom and dad are at the table drinking the last bit of their dark coffee. And here I am just sitting, staring into space.
It is way too early for me to even think about anything.
“Ashley, are you ready to leave?” my dad called from the kitchen.
I made the slightest sound hinting that I didn’t want to be bothered.
“Deena hurry up if anything else is done to your hair you are going to look like Shirley Temple.” My dad always says things like that because he thinks he is funny.
I started to walk out to the car; the bitter cold morning air seemed like a punch in the face when I opened the front door. I pulled my hood over my tall messy bun as best I could. I honestly didn’t care about how I looked. I should probably do a check off.

I think I’m good. I sit in the back of our Light Blue Chevy Trail Blazer. I look out of my window and see the small layer of light behind a few of the houses. The moon is still out, shining bright. It’s so pretty. The moon has always been something I look at when I think. It brings some pretty good ideas to my mind.
Mom and dad got into the car, dad in the driver’s seat and mom in the passenger. Deena of course was still in the house taking longer than ever, like always. Dad had to honk the horn about 5 times before Deena came out to the car. Finally we were able to leave.
It took us about an hour to get to the airport, and probably 20 minutes to find a parking space. After that we headed into the Delta International line to get our papers. That is what took the longest. There were 15 people in line before us. Most of them were foreign so it took even longer, because the people behind the desk out have to slow down their words for the foreigners to be able to understand. Talk about irritating.
We finally got threw the line and were able to go to the security line. This didn’t take long. I took my shoes off and put them in the bin mom handed to me. Deena started to piss people off. She had to take all of her bracelets off, her earrings her bedazzled belt. And by the time she was able to go through the metal detector something had to go wrong. Deena had her 1 Direction paper airplane necklace on. That made the detector go off. While all of us were waiting for Deena to put all of her jewelry on we had to run to our flight so we didn’t miss it. I swear if Deena wasn’t half as worried about how she looked we would actually be on time for something.
As we boarded the plane my phone buzzed in my pocket.

Thanks and don’t worry I will! Love you to girl!
Between the four of us there was one seat on the other side of the isle. I choose that seat so I didn’t have to deal with my mom asking me a bunch of questions about how I’ve been acting lately, Deena looking in her mini mirror every 5 seconds, or dad snoring.
There were little TV’s on the seats in front of us so we could watch movies. I chose not to. I just listened to my music.
After we landed in London, and got all of our things off the plane. We had to do one of my favorite things. Find out checked luggage.
It took about an hour for us to even find where our luggage was located. Once we got there we found out they put our stuff because no one claimed it. We all headed to the rental care place. Deena and I waited outside of the place with the luggage.
“I can’t wait to drive, it has been forever.” Deena said waving her ID wallet in my face with her license facing me.
“Ummm Deena.”
“What? Your jealous because you don’t have your license yet aren’t you?!”
“Deena…” I pointed to a sign right behind her.
“You must be over 21 to drive a rental car.” Deena slowly read.
“Sucks.” I mumbled
“UGHHHHHHHHHHH that’s not even fair how am I going to go to the places I want?!” Deena yelled as mom and dad were walking out.
“With Ashley of course.” She added.
I rolled my eyes.
“I think your grandmother has a car. She might let you borrow it.”
“Thank God I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t drive this whole trip!”
I can’t believe mom and dad are seriously making me go to these things with her.
