School was the same as always, learning and leaving. I just want to go to London already. I think it will be a great way to get my mind off of all these people at my school. Because my sister is a bitch sometimes I am on the bus, the discussing bus. Good for me I am the 3rd stop so I don't have to be on the bus that long. Next stop is me. Thank God. The bus was coming to a stop. I gathered my things to get off the bus, and got up from my seat to walk into the isle of the bus. Halah usually gets off the next stop, but for some reason today she got off at my stop. It wasn’t that long of a walk, but the other stop was closer. “Well hello Ashley.” She said.  Ignored her pretending I didn’t hear her. “Ashley, I’m talking to you.” She grabbed my arm. Halah and I used to be friends, we got into a fight a couple of months ago, I’m over it now, but I just don’t care to talk to her.  “Ashley, stop I want to talk to you.” I continued in the direction of my house. She ran to catch up to me and stepped right in front of me. “Ashley, listen I’m sorry for what happened. I want to be your friend again. Can you please forgive me?” “Why should I?” I said not even looking at her. “Because what I did was stupid, and they weren’t true friends, like you were trying to tell me.”

A few months ago Halah started to talk to the cheerleaders, and started being mean to Kylie and me. So I confronted her about it, and all she had to say was, “They are way better friends to me then you and Kylie ever were.” And we haven’t talked since. So it shocks me that she would even try to talk to me again.

“You’re only coming back because you finally realized I was right, and now you don’t have anyone because they did exactly what I said they would. I will think about talking to you again but don’t count on it.” I walked into my house and closed the door behind me so she wouldn’t try to talk to me again. I set my stuff down next to the door and slipped my slipper boots off my feet and continued to the kitchen just in the other room. I had my phone in my hand, and looked down to see an unknown number calling me. I didn’t want to take the chance of it being Halah, so I didn’t answer. My Phone rang a few times more.

A few seconds later our home phone started to ring, my mom and dad were still at work, and my sister was at practice, so the only one who was home was me and my dog spencer. I looked at the caller ID and it was again unknown. I never gave Halah our home phone number so it couldn’t be her. I picked up the phone and waited for the other person to speak. “Ashley?” a male voice said on the other line. “Speaking.” I said in a professional kind of way. “Hey sis, its James!” My mouth dropped open. I haven’t talked to my brother James since Thanks giving. He is stationed in Afghanistan. So we don’t get to talk to him much.

I let out a whimper, as I started to cry at the sound of my big brothers voice. “Ashley, are you okay?” he asked concerned. “I’m sorry I just missed hearing your voice, how are you doing over there?” I struggled to get the words out. I was kind of glad I was the only one home. I got to talk to my brother without any interruptions. “It’s going pretty over here, nothing new. I miss you to sis. How’s everyone else?” “Everyone is good, Deena a freak as always, and mom and dad working harder and harder every day. We are going to visit grandma in London in a few days. I’m pretty excited.” “That’s awesome. Tell everyone I say hi and give them all hugs and kisses from me.” He said, I could tell he was holding back tears. “James, I love you so much and I can’t stand not seeing you every day. When are you coming home?” “Ashley, that’s the reason I called. I just talked to Sargent Springfield, and he needs me to stay for a lot longer than I thought. And I wanted to let you guys no as soon as I was able to pick up the phone. I’m really sorry.” The words he spoke broke my heart into pieces.

“I understand, you have things you need to do. I will pass on the message to mom and dad.” I began to sob quietly. “Listen Ashley, I will try to be home as soon as possible. I love and miss you. I have to go back to work. I will give you all a call when I can. Don’t forget those hugs and kisses for everyone.” He hung up the phone.  I walked into the foyer to get up the stairs. I walked up the stairs, weak from crying.  I tried to calm myself down. When I reached the top of the stairs I waked into my bedroom, and threw myself on my bed. My brother wouldn’t be home for a while, and it seems like the days just keep getting harder without him.
