Avalon was in disbelief, she couldn't believe that Wanda was willing to go this far. She never wanted to fight her friend, but she had to stop her. Avalon conjured her powers, creating a ball of energy, and twisting her fingers to feed it more power. This was no longer Wanda that Avalon was fighting. This was the Scarlet Witch.
Hiding, she pressed on the wound near her stomach. The pain from the burn was excruciating. As if the burn was spreading, it was shaped like a spider's web. Avalon snapped her head around, she could sense that something was coming. The atmosphere shifted. Uncontrolled, her heart began racing. She tried to slow her breathing, but she knew it was too late.
Moving like your shadow, the witch appeared behind Avalon. The young Stark brought the hand holding her energy behind her back. She didn't want to hurt Wanda, but the world they knew it as was on fire. The battle between the two had gone on for far too long. Avalon wasn't tired, but she was annoyed. She knew this needed to be over.
The 15-year-old twins had taken cover as another blast was sent at them by the witch. Their mother flung the ball of energy she was creating. Young Adelaide had clung to her brother for support. She was scared, looking over at her father who lay on the ground, not moving. She tried reaching out to him but Tadeas pulled her hand back. She couldn't believe her father, a god, was dead. He was caught in the blast between Avalon and the Scarlet Witch. The pure energy and magic combined had killed him.
"Mom!" Tadeus cried out. "Please!"
Avalon hated to hear her children cry, let alone in fear. It hurt her more that she couldn't comfort them. Her eyes darkened, and she realized what she had to do. What she had to sacrifice. It was going to risk ending the world as they knew it. If the blast thrown at the Scarlet Witch was powerful enough, it was going to take out anything and everyone around them. Her eyes glowed blue, and a portal appeared before them.
"Mom?" Tadeus called to her, a hint of confusion in his voice.
The Scarlet Witch threw another spell at them, hitting where they once hid. Protecting his family, Tadeus sent a fireball at the witch, her dunking in the process. The witch was envious of Avalon and her children. Wanda's children, her twins, were taken from her. Their deaths were accidental. She grew hatred for Avalon as she watched as she had her own twins. It was unfair. How did Avalon Stark get to have beautiful children with Loki, but Wanda couldn't have a happy family with Vision. Wanda wanted what she had.
"Listen to me," She told them, as she touched their cheeks. "I love you both, but you need to leave. You'll be safe there."
Adelaide started crying, "Mom, we don't want to leave you."
"She will kill you," Tadeus argued, watching his mother remain straight-faced.
"I know, baby, I'd rather her kill me than you, but it's not safe for you here. Go find me on this Earth. I'll be confused but she'll eventually listen to you. We are stubborn." Avalon refused to cry, she couldn't let her children see her cry. "Tadeus, protect your sister."
"We will, mom. I promise." Tadeus was trying to be brave. "I'll let her see into my head, then she will be forced to believe us."
"Go, now! Before it's too late." She said as the ground rattled. "I love you."
"I love you too." The twins said as the portal ate them up before disappearing.
Avalon cried out as she saw her babies leave. Much like how Wanda felt when her children were taken, Avalon felt the same. She was furious, pure rage taking over. The Scarlet Witch had levitated down to her level. Little did she know, Avalon turned transparent, unable to see to the bare human eye. Believing her last spell had killed Avalon, the witch smirked as she turned around to walk away. Her throat was grabbed, and the hand tightened as Avalon appeared.
