Same warnings as last chapter.
It's all my fault I'm about to die.
It was morning.
Wills fever has reached 103 now. He kept slurring unknowable words, and having hallucinations. It was like he wasn't even there. He was confused...out of it. At one point, he thought he was at school. He's been dizzy...in severe pain, and has gotten sick 5 times in the past hour.
Multiple IV lines had been hooked up, trying to restore the fluid he lost from getting sick. They were also pumping him with fresh blood. He lost a lot during the surgery, and was starting to cough it up.
Wills body jerked slightly as the blood came up his throat, choking on it. It splattered onto his cheeks and lips, him whining and crying. He was barely breathing on his own anymore, which meant he would possibility need to be intubated soon.
Wills friends were in the room. Dustin had been off and on crying, Steve comforting him a lot. Along with Eddie....that was tough. Eddie didn't know the Byers kid. But this was really...really hard to watch.
"I need a minute." Eddie whispers, pulling away from the arm that was around Steve's shoulder and walking out the door and into the hallway. Steve sighs, and Dustin motions for him to go. Steve followed the Rockstar, going into the hallway.
Mike stayed by Wills side the entire time. Comforting him when he got sick. Wiping his face from blood. Holding him close through hallucinations. Reminding him to breathe...
Joyce did the same, now patting Wills forehead with a cool towel. She had been up all night...Jonathan rested in a chair across the room. Joyce and him were taking 'shifts'.
Mike looked at the monitor when it started beeping, his heart rate rising and oxygen tanking. Will was still breathing quickly, skin pale and pale. "Will?... Will!" Mike says, jumping up.
"Will baby answer us! Open your eyes." Joyce says, tapping his cheek. Jonathan woke from the commotion, bolting into the hallway and running from a nurse. As he ran back in, he caught a glimpse of Eddie covering his ears. His head was shoved in Steve's chest.
Eddie was tough, there was no doubt about that. But this was so hard to see. Even for Eddie. Because Eddie was not as strong as he presumes. Not scary.Jonathan watched, vision blurring with tears as several doctors and nurses ran in, yelling for everybody to get out. Dustin instantly bolted into the hallway. Hopper had to peel Joyce from her son, her sobbing. When in the hallway, she collapsed into his arms.
Mike was refusing to leave Wills side. Even when Jonathan grabbed at him and struggled to pull Mike away with how hard he was trying to stay. Mike fought back... but Jonathan won.
Mike got pulled into the hallway, him yelling for Will.
The last glimpse he saw was Will get laid down flat, multiple doctors working on him. A tube thick and big being pushed down his throat. Multiple needles. And that was all he saw.
