Chapter 12

It was another few days before Charlie was released from the hospital but when he was he had his ever doting mate to keep him safe.

Once they reached the swan home she carefully helped him into the house with the help of Jacob, she carefully sat him down in his chair and sighed softly as she went about cooking and cleaning before the entire pack turned up with their imprints.

She hummed softly when she heard Charlie call her name which made her smile slightly
"Yes my love" she smiled as she walked over to him
He looked around at everyone in the room before he looked at her
"We'd like to hear your story" he whispered softly
She blinked slightly before she nodded "as you all wish" she mumbled as she sat on the arm of Charlie's chair.

He looked at her for a second before he carefully pulled her into his lap and sighed softly as she relaxed into him.

"I can't quite remember when I was born but I know I'm around two years younger than Carlisle, so physically I was turned around the age of twenty one maybe twenty two, our father was a cruel man, he was a pastor in our town but also the resident vampire hunter" she mumbled as she grabbed Charlie's hand and gently played with it "I remember the day Carlisle and I were turned as if it was still yesterday, my father had made Carlisle tag along with him to find a bunch of vampires that were housing themselves in a near by church but my father got spooked and left my brother there, when he returned without Carlisle I was worried and chose to go and find him myself" she mumbled and took a shaky unneeded breath

"Your okay Annie" Charlie mumbled softly as he kissed her head gently.
She nodded a little and carried on her story

"When I got to the church I found a vampire drinking from my brother so I did the only logical thing I could think of, I threw a cross at him" she mumbled making Jacob laugh loudly which made her smile softly as she gently shook her head "when I did he turned and I saw my brothers blood drip down his face, the last thing my human eyes saw were the piercing red eyes of the vampire before darkness, I felt the pain for three whole days before my eyes opened again, only when they did everything was much more clear" she mumbled as she smiled softly

"The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was my brother, he was looking at me with so much guilt but I could not blame him for what happened I only blamed my father" she whispered "Carlisle and I instantly knew we were damned, the devils advocates if you will"
"You are not damned Anastasia" Charlie mumbled as he pulled her into his chest a little tighter making her smile softly "that my love is exactly what Esme told Carlisle when he explained this story" she giggled softly

She smiled a little as she kissed his cheek gently before she went back to it "we knew we could not take the lives of humans, not when we had been so forcefully turned into this monster, instead Carlisle fed from a deer, when he knew it was safe to do so, i one upped him and took on a bear" she giggled softly "after that we traveled alone for years until we met the volturi, the sort of kings of our world, we stayed for them for years but neither Carlisle nor I approved of their human blood diet so we left, Carlisle became a doctor and I became a nurse for a few years until we came across Edward and his mother during the Spanish influenza, now I hate turning people but with his mother dead Edward would have been alone and he was dying so Carlisle turned him" she mumbled

She sat a little straighter and sighed softly "a few years later we found Esme, she had been abused by her husband, he'd killed her baby and she was in a deep depression, so much so that she threw herself off a cliff, Carlisle found her and instantly knew that they were true mates, loosing a true mate would be like loosing yourself so he turned her too" she smiled a little "I love seeing my brother happy but happiness turned to Angst very quickly, Carlisle and I found Rosalie just after she been attacked by not only the man she would call her husband but also his friends, she was such a sweet girl and I could not let her last moments on this earth be because of those men. But she hated me for it for such a long time, she hated I took her humanity away" she mumbled before she sighed a little

"She was only thankful when she found Emmett, he'd been mauled by a bear and when I saw him I instantly felt such a motherly instinct for him, now don't get me wrong I'd felt it for Edward and Rosie but with Emmett it was different it was like he was my own flesh and blood so I could not let him die so i turned him" she mumbled and looked up at everyone, the wolves all looking at her with a mix of emotions but none of their faces held anger which she was happy about.

"For a few years we lived in peace as a little family until the day Jasper and Alice found us, when I opened my door that night and looked at the two vampires I instantly felt the need to protect them, Carlisle instantly became a father to Alice and I immediately took Jasper in as my own which confused him for a long time until he realised the bond we shared" she smiled softly as she leaned into Charlie more.

"We bounced from state to state for many years until two years ago we ended up here, I'd gotten bored of being a nurse many years ago so I went to college and got a degree for teaching, I also decided to be a teacher to help my sons thirst around humans as Jasper is the newest to our vegetarian died, though we were all happy Carlisle could never shake the feeling that we were still damned and either could I" she whispered softly as she squeezed Charlie's hand
"But now I don't think that" she whispered softly

"What changed your mind" Jacob mumbled with so much fascination on his face that it made her smile

"Well a few weeks ago I met this new girl in my class and instantly knew who she was, during my lunch break I'd gone home and cooked a dish and took it to the station for give to the very handsome police chief, when I looked at him it was like I was looking at the start of my life, his eyes held so much emotion and being near him made me feel completely and utterly human for the first time in a very very long time. When I found out that he was my soulmate it came a shock, soulmates are the rarest form of mates there is, when I felt Charlie die it was like a half of my soul was taken with him and if he stayed dead I'd turn into a shell of myself, almost like a permanent shell of depression that no one could rid me of" she whispered as she looked down at the man she loved and smiled as she stroked his cheek gently and kissed him softly for the first time.

"Being his soulmate allows me to be human, now I'm sort of half mortal, half immortal, I can eat, sleep, cry and it's all thanks to my wonderful mate" she whispered and leaned into him.

She watched as all her friends and her mates took in what she had said, for a moment she thought they'd outcast her but no, Charlie held onto the woman he loved a little harder as she giggled when all the wolves started asking her questions out of curiosity, in that moment both Charlie and Ana knew that no matter what happened from now on they would keep no lies from one another, they'd do everything together or not at all.
