Mabel's hands were sweating as she grasped the cold metal handle to her hotel room. Her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her throat at any moment with anticipation of what would be on the other side of the door. As she pulled the handle down and slowly opened the door she revealed- nothing. Sighing she looked around until her eyes fell on the space on the floor right in front of her door. Sitting there was a bouquet of roses and a small note attached as she picked the roses up she felt her cheeks warm as she read the note.

"I'm sorry I forgot to say congratulations on the part, you'll be amazing love. Love Joe (Quinn, obviously) x

Ps. My number is ________"

Mabel quickly pressed the flowers to her nose inhaling the scent with her exhale she felt butterflies erupt in her stomach, she felt like a school girl again, head spinning at such a small gesture. She shut her door and placed her flowers on the bed, twirling the note between her fingers debating what to say Joe, she pulled out her phone quickly typing his number into her contacts and sending a message.

"Thank you Joe (Quinn obviously) x" she typed before hitting send, the whooshing noise causing her to feel anxious. Was it too boring? Was it cringy? Her thoughts raving through her head were interrupted by a ping signalling he'd responded.

Joe
You deserve it. Are you nervous for your first proper day tomorrow?

Mabel
I'm pretty nervous. I'm worried that I won't exactly be up to everyone's standards.

Joe
Nonsense- you just did a marvel movie you can't doubt yourself now.

Mabel
I guess.

Joe
Do you need company? I'm sure I can swing by your hotel again if you'd like that.

Mabel
Don't think your girlfriend would approve.  I'm going to sleep anyway, long day tomorrow. Night Joe.

Mabel truly just didn't feel like seeing his face again because she was sure her ability to control herself would once again ware thin and something that shouldn't happen, would happen. Mabel's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her door, her stomach knotted at the thought that it could be Joe, running here to tell her he doesn't care what Beau thinks. Mabel quickly scurried to the door and opened it her face falling in disappointment that it was simply Kristen. She mumbled a hello and stepped aside to let her in.

"Well you clearly weren't expecting me" Kristen chuckled heading over to her bed in the room. She picked up the red roses from Mabel's bed and inhaled the scent sitting back down on her bed.

"Who are these from?" Kristen teased. Mabel blushed and sighed knowing she was definitely going to have to say something.

"Jo-"

"Mabel" Kristen sternly said her eyes resting on Mabel disapprovingly.

"Kristen" Mabel replied.

"I understand you love Joe and he loves you but me trying to get you on talking terms was not so he could cheat on Beau again."

"It's flowers, how is that cheating!" Mabel exclaimed.

"It's cheating because he's hiding it from her." She said bluntly. "Does she know about the two of you?"
