September
11 months later"Happy birthday baby" Joe mumbled kissing Mabel awake. She groaned pulled the covers over her head not feeling ready to wake up.
"Come on angel, we've got a whole day planned just for you" he smiled pulling the fabric from her face and peppering her face with kisses."Okay okay I'm up" she giggled at his lips tickling her. Her green eyes met his bold brown ones, a smile instantly hitting her face.
"Okay first things first." Joe began getting up from the bed. "Breakfast- McDonald's. Then you have a nail appointment at 10am. After that you, Kristen and Jess are going to for a spa treatment until 1, massages or something." He said genuinely unsure "then we'll do taco bell for lunch because I know you love it, then you'll come back here at 2 with Jess and Kristen and get your hair and make up done for tonight" he finished.
"Ah yes tonight, the super secret party that I'm not allowed to know anything about" she rolled her eyes.
"Yes that party" he smiled.
"What's happening with Rosie and Bailey?" Mabel asked curiously. Bailey was Kristen and Josh's son that was born 3 months ago, finally giving Mabel her best 'dude' as she called him.
"They're staying with my parents tonight" he smiled. "My mum can't wait for grandkids of her own that she's practically claimed Kristen's children" he chuckled. Mabel smiled thinking of the day they'll eventually give them their actual grandkids.
"You, get up, breakfast" Joe laughed throwing a pillow at Mabel.
After breakfast the girls were sat getting their nails done together.
"So you can't tell me anything about the party?"
"Nope" the girls said in unison
"But I'm instructed to have my nails blue?" She quizzed.
"Yes"
"So my outfits blue?"
"You could say that" Jess chuckled looking at Kristen.
"Seriously you can't tell me anything?" Mabel whined. Both girls shook their head in sync.
"Oh we can tell you that this bag" Kristen gushed holding up a black gift bag. "Contains the same shade lingerie as your nails" she laughed. Mabel's face fell in embarrassment that she had just announced that loudly in the nail salon.
"No if's, no but's and no coconuts, Mabel. You will wear it" she demanded.
"Do you think Joe will propose tonight?" Mabel asked hopeful. "It's been nearly a year since I brought up I'd say yes and I stupidly assumed he'd have proposed by now but unfortunately I was incredibly wrong" she said sheepishly. Kristen and Jess shared a glance between them.
"I don't know Mabel" Jess sighed.
"It's quite a big party planned and you know he's not one for public proposals" added Kristen. Mabel sighed knowing she was right, he wasn't one for public proposals, they'd always spoken about it and he always said he preferred private proposals, something more intimate.
"Well there's always Christmas" Mabel laughed the girls chuckled along and the conversation moved to Jess and Jamie's wedding that was next month. Mabel's mind wandered to Joe as they spoke, she was sure the proposal would've happened by now, she couldn't help but think his mind had changed, what if he didn't want to marry her anymore? What if the spark died for him.
"Done" called the girl doing Mabel's nails. Mabel looked down at the baby blue nails, unable to ignore how bare her ring finger seemed in comparison to Kristen and Jess.
