Mabel woke the next morning to a knock at her hotel door. She groaned in frustration and quickly got out of bed grabbed her robe and headed to the door, opening it swiftly. To her surprise Joe was on the other side, wide eyes, she quickly wrapped the robe around herself to cover her pyjamas that definitely didn't leave much to the imagination. Joe quickly broke his stare, a blush rising on his cheeks.

"Uh sorry. I was just coming to see if you wanted to come for breakfast. I didn't mean to wake you" he awkwardly laughed.

"With you and Beau?"

"Just me, Beaus got a hangover so I think that'll be her out for most of the day." He stated.

"Yeah I could use food. Come in, I just need to change and we can head down." She smiled opening the door wider to allow Joe to enter. He nodded and happily entered the room, sitting down at the chair next to the desk. His eyes wandered around the room and landed on Mabel's dress in a pile on the floor, simply disregarded. His mind flew to her potentially having someone in here last night and his stomach knotted at the idea. He redirected his eyes to Mabel who was frantically flipping through her case for an outfit. She pulled out a grey oversized jumper that had a rose embroidered on the sleeve and some workout shorts. Joe recognised the jumper and immediately chuckled.

"Is that my jumper?" He laughed. Mabel's eyes widened at the grey fabric in her hands remembering it is in fact, Joe's jumper. A blush crept on her face when she remembered she took it from his side of the closet before she left for Australia.

"Do you want it back? I must've thought it was mine" she awkwardly laughed.

"No keep it! I'm sure it looks much better on you, if I recall correctly from you almost living solely in my clothes our entire relationship" he chuckled. Mabel nodded with a smile and excused herself to the bathroom to get changed. Joe sat in silence waiting for Mabel and decided now would be a good time to talk.

"So I was thinking" Joe raised his voice to be heard.

"About what?" She called back.

"Us- I really think we should be friends, I mean we've already told Beau we're old family friends so I don't exactly think it'll be a problem." He finished as she opened the bathroom door revealing herself. He smiled at the sight of her in his jumper, he couldn't help but let every emotion rule his facial expressions.

"I think friends sounds good" Mabel nodded grabbing her Nikes from beside her bed. Mabel didn't want to admit that she had no idea if she was capable of being friends with Joe, she loved his company and everything about him but she was worried she'd feel like it was never enough. She sighed bending over to tie her shoelaces, pondering what a friendship looks like with Joe. She was blissfully unaware Joe was now completely staring at her bum on full display in her workout shorts, his eyes wide and his heart racing.

Mabel stood upright and Joe snapped himself away from his thoughts as his face burned red.

"Ready?" She asked him. She noticed him hiding his face by turning it away towards the door and couldn't quite figure out why. He stood up quickly mumbling a yes and the pair left the room walking down to breakfast in silence.

They quickly got seated and handed menus, both of them already ordering a pot of tea for the table.

"So- do your parents know about Beau?" Mabel asked breaking their silence.  Joe shook his head sipping his tea.

"I don't think they'd even want to hear about Beau. Unfortunately Mabel Mae, unless someone is you they aren't good enough" he smiled and Mabel felt her heard warm at the comment. "In their eyes of course" he added awkwardly realising what he had said. Mabel's face fell but she quickly asked another question.
