Disha's POV,
I ran into the washroom to think of a plan to escape from this place. Since it was early in the morning, the janitors were taking the garbage to the garbage truck, which was parked at the back gate. I had no other choice but to hide inside the truck to get away; it was the only way I had. I somehow managed to get on the garbage truck and finally reached the exit.
Meanwhile, at Taiga's office room, the determination in the air was palpable.
I knew it was her. This time, I'm not going to let her run."
(Knock!! knock!)
"COME IN."
A young man walked in furiously.
"Hey Lee."
Taiga's POV,
Lee is my stepbrother, his mom died in an accident when he was three years old, after that incident we took him into care. Now we both are taking care of our business together.
Lee,
Tai as you guessed she went to the airport; shall I send our men there.
Taiga's POV,
A burst of laughter escaped me upon hearing that, leaving my brother with a perplexed expression. He queried once more, "Taiga, do you want me to send our men to the airport?"
I responded, "No need for that. Just tell Bob to gather all his men near the bus stops and railway stations and ask him to wait for my signal. And one more crucial thing – she must not notice them.
He couldn't fathom why I resisted the idea of heading to the airport, expressing his confusion with a puzzled tone.
"But, bro, I told you... She is in the airport. Why do we have to gather our men near the bus stops? Are you drunk, Taiga?"
I simply smiled and responded,
"Lee, if I know Disha, she would've guessed our moves by now and shifted to her next escape route, likely via bus or train to reach any nearby village or city. So, trust me, I know what I am doing."
Lee's emotional nature takes precedence, driven by an eagerness to locate Disha, fueled by an incident from four years ago. With a concerned gaze, he inquired,
"How can you be so sure about that? You know she had already tricked you once."
Rarely did he pose such probing questions to me. His vengeful spirit typically overpowered his kind demeanor, fearing that my fraternal sentiment might lean towards aiding her escape. As an elder brother, I empathetically addressed him,
"Of course, I remember, my little brother. But just keep this in mind—people always learn from their mistakes, and don't worry, I'm not here to save her."
His face registered surprise as he questioned me,
"I don't understand, Tai. Why this woman again? You know what we lost because of her. Did you forget everything, brother?"
I grappled with the complexity of Lee's question, uncertain myself about why I continued pursuing her despite all she had done to me. A smile played on my lips as I confessed,
"I have been asking the same question to myself for many years now, still unable to find the reason why, Lee."
Without uttering a word, he left the room to assemble our men near the bus stops. As I contemplated her discovery of our location, a determined thought echoed within me,
"This is the end to our hide and seek, Disha!"
At AIRPORT,
In Disha's POV,
Achoo!!! I think he is cursing me. I need to leave this place, but something is definitely wrong here. Why the hell is the truck not moving? I need to go before somebody notices me.
After a few minutes,
The truck reached near the entry gate. I got down from the truck and rushed myself to the entrance again, trying to get away from people. Wondering about Taiga, whenever I think about him, I get a lump in my throat. No, this is not the time to think negative.
I must hurry up. After an hour, I reached the city bus stop, waiting to get on any bus. Suddenly, my mobile phone started to ring. I picked up, seeing Mathew's name on the screen. Mathew is Natalie's fiancé, and I don't know why, but I'm getting a bad feeling about this. After a few seconds, I made up my mind to pick up the call.
With fear, I answered,
"Hello. Hello, Mathew... Is everything OK?"
There was no answer from the other side, and I got scared. I shouted, "MATHEWWW!" Still, there was no response. I didn't know what to do.
"Damn, why is he not answering the call after picking it up?"
Oh my God! Don't tell me they already got them. No, no, nothing like that should happen again.
After a few seconds, he replied back,
"Hello!! Hello, Hello.... Helloooooo Disha."
In Disha's POV, relief washed over me upon hearing his voice.
"Idiot, are you trying to give me a heart attack?"
After hearing my voice clearly, he started shouting,
"Disha, please come here soon. I need your help. Please, save me."(sobbing)
I felt a rush of fear. Without even contemplating the consequences, I asked the driver to turn the car to the 2nd Market Street, where Nat and Mathew were living. Meanwhile, I called him to gather details about the situation and inquire about Nat. He mentioned that she was not there. Panic set in, and I tried calling Nat, but she did not answer my calls.
This wasn't like Nat. No matter how important the work, she never failed to pick up our calls, and I grew increasingly anxious about the situation.
I kept dialing Nat again and again,
"Nat, pick up the call. Pick up, PICK UP, PICKkkkkk UP, damn it"...But it was of no use. I must hurry.
Line dead
"Mathew!! Mathew!! Shit shit"
The connection between me and Mathew also got disconnected, I asked the driver to speed up a little.
The urgency gripped me, knowing they mustn't be found by him at any cost. The air hung heavy with the unsettling echoes of screaming noises and gunshots just before the disconnection. I fervently hoped they were not involved. "Please, God, don't do this to me." The plea escaped my lips as I grappled with the unknown, a sinking feeling settling deep within.
