it was the year 1985, teenagers were either going to college or getting summer jobs. the starcourt mall had been a hub for these kids, new shops where getting jobs required minimal experience. while many of her classmates had found jobs at the new mall, victoria had been employed at the camelot music store.

she had a history with this place. when hopper had first brought her into his house five years ago he had played the song 'you don't mess around with jim.' the record had been brought from the very shop where she now worked as a cashier.

while the mall had absorbed shops like radio shack, camelot had stayed independent, and lucky for them their customer base remained loyal, the quality of products was the best at camelot, meaning victoria still earned enough to get herself a pretty top from the gap every now and then.

what she also loved was the fact that the manager of the store, an old man, mr. coleman was one of the sweetest people she knew. he had a love for music, and he loved the store more than anything, he would barely come to the store himself due to his health, it was usually victoria that opened and closed it. he would also sometimes let victoria off early without cutting her pay just so she could meet up with her boyfriend.

and that was another thing going great in victoria's life, her boyfriend. steve harrington. victoria hopper was officially a lovesick teenager. steve harrington could so much as breathe in her direction and she would swoon. and steve was no different, he was wrapped around the girl's finger.

whenever victoria was around, he would always stand as close as he could, he would also go on and on about her to his new co worker robin buckley. the poor girl had asked him once if he had a girlfriend, totally expecting a douchebag response from the former king of highschool but had ended up having to listen to a 47 minute speech about his out of the world girlfriend.

since the time she had started working with steve, robin had never seen his girlfriend in person, and once she had gotten to know that it was victoria hopper, the sweetest girl in school she quickly come to the conclusion that steve had been lying to her and did not hold back from stating her observation every chance she got.

another addition to victoria's life had been a boy, a boy a lot different than steve who had just one day walked into the record store asking for a black sabbath record and struck an unusual friendship with her.

"hey, hopper. 9 o'clock." eddie munson spoke quietly as he neared the cash register. victoria looked up towards where eddie was motioning and noticed a boy, he was tall, taller than eddie at least. "he looks nice." eddie scoffed beside her. "nice? he looks like a goddamn masterpiece."
