Zylith sat on the bench, watching Gina play. Tennis wasn't her thing and she understood little about the game but she had to watch because it meant a lot to Gina. As per request, Lucas joined too.
"Here you go," he passed her a cup of slush.
"Awww strawberry slush," she smiled, "thank you."
"I figured you would be exhausted under this scorching heat," he smiled back at her as he sipped from his slush.
Zylith gasped, "you've got to be kidding me. There's even a granadilla slush?"
Lucas chuckled, "you are just weird. This has been there for some time now."
"Really?" Zylith narrowed her eyes, "let me have a sip."
He moved the cup towards her. She took out the straw from her cup and put it in his. Her action surprised him.
"Since when do we use separate things? he asked in disbelief.
"Since we grew up," she frankly replied, "mmm this is so tasty."
"Since we grew up?" he scoffed.
Zylith laughed, "you're a man now. I bet you now have that special someone in your life who you'd rather share your straw with."
"I would have told you if I had someone," he scoffed, "you're acting off."
"No," she shook her head, still laughing, "you are the one who's been acting off lately. Is everything alright?"
He didn't reply and just stared at her with an unreadable expression.
"You know," she moved closer to him, "Gina told me a little secret."
"Eish, you guys!" Gina interrupted them. They both looked forward.
"The match is over, did you even watch me play?" she walked towards them, pissed.
"I-" Lucas scratched the back of his head.
"Uhmm," Zylith murmured, trying to find an excuse.
Gina furrowed her brows, disappointed at both of them. She left the tennis court, angry. They followed behind her, apologizing. Little did they know that their support meant a lot to her. They didn't expect her to get angry.
"Gina," Lucas called her name, "we're sorry. I promise to pay attention on the final match."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Gina yelled as she walked faster.
"Gina wait up!" Zylith called.
"Ahh!" Zylith abruptly stopped walking.
"Zylith," Lucas stopped and looked behind. Gina dropped her tennis bag and ran towards Zylith.
"Hey what happened?" she asked, concerned, "a stomachache again?"
Zylith nodded and closed her eyes to lessen the pain. Lucas carried her to the car.
"Gina. Sit with her in the back okay?" Lucas instructed. Gina nodded and got in as Lucas instructed the driver to get Gina's tennis bag and go home with the other car. They rushed her to the hospital and waited impatiently outside.
"Could it be the slush?" Gina wondered.
"No, it can't be. I drank it too," Lucas shook his head.
"Should we let her mom know?" Gina sighed.
"She needs to know even though she won't come. We will be held accountable if anything happens to her."
