Murph's POV:
I'd been awake for what felt like hours, I'd had no concept of time since I'd ended up here. I ran my fingers through Will's hair, who was still laying in my arms. I'd checked his pulse about a thousand times, each time more nervous than the next.

He nestled his head deeper into the coat, covering his face with it to try and trap the heat. I sighed quietly and then froze when I heard a scream in the distance. What could only be a human scream. I slowly edged away from Will, covering him completely with the jacket to keep him warm and to hide him from any demogorgan. Jesus, I thought, even thinking that word gave me the chills.

I began to walking in the direction I could hear the voice. "JONATHON!" I heard faintly and suddenly my legs were sprinting towards the sound. It all sounded so faint, I may have been mistaken. But I continued running and spinning around to try and find them. "NANCY!" I halted to a stop.

I began breathing heavily, feeling tears slide down my cheeks as I forced my legs to keep going. Wiping, aggressively at my eyes. This could be our way out. I ran and ran but found nothing. After that I didn't hear a thing, maybe it had been my mind playing tricks on me. Or maybe I was imagining things but I turned around, following my own footsteps and went back to Castle Byers'.

When I slumped down, Will crawled up next to me. I leaned my head on top of his and inhaled as he gripped my hand. "I've been using this." He quietly mumbled. Pointing at a stereo in Castle Byers with a few tapes beside it. "This is how mom knows I'm alive. I communicate with her." He said, coughing a little. I nodded with my eyebrows furrowed before saying, "show me." And he did.

Should I stay or Should I go, began playing and I gasped. "So she can hear it?" I said. He nodded. "I don't know how." He shook his head but I felt my eyes widen. "I always keep my walkman on me." I said, confirming it by pulling it out of the waistband of my skirt. He smiled genuinely as I retrieved the one tape I'd kept in it. I put my headset on him and let it play.

Hold me by Fleetwood Mac streamed into his ears, I began nodding along to the parts I could hear as he turned up the volume nodding with me. When he took it off, I looked him in the eyes seriously. "Could this work?" I said. He nodded, slightly unsure as he took out his tape and put mine in.

The song played much louder and I heard feedback over the stereo. I edged closer with Will, so we'd hear anything going on. "Baby... I'm going - I'll - Find - Be okay." Joyce's voice was breaking up on the other side as I gasped. A sad tear streamed down his cheek as he smiled. I pressed my lips to his head, ruffling his hair like I did Dustin's at one point. "She'll figure it out. When they realise you're not... home." He whispered. I nodded, feeling torn apart over how Dustin would feel.

I began emptying out my shoes and my skirt to see all the stuff I had stashed in. I found some gum and gave it to Will who politely declined, I shrugged and found a lone cigarette. I almost cried of happiness but left it in there. That would be my victory cig, the day we got out of this fucked up place I would light it and savour the living fuck out of it.

I grabbed my lighter and switched it on, seeing the flame heighten. Will put his tiny hands around it before I said. "We could use this to kill that demogorgan. Surely fire would work." I suggested, sitting up. He nodded, eyes bright. "I mean it's tiny though." I whispered more to myself. "All we need is to distract it." He reassured and I nodded in agreement.

Me and Will hadn't realised that some kid with superpowers that had now taken place in their friendship group could see us. And they were en route to helping us. I held him closer to me, my body had began feeling really weak. I hadn't ate a thing and desperately needed a drink.

"Murph?" He queried. I smiled down before saying "Yeah?" He turned his neck, looking up at me. "You're the coolest big sister ever." I felt my eyes tear up at the thought of Dustin. "Yeah? I have the best little brothers in the world don't I?"

"I wish you actually were my big sister." He muttered. "Hey, look at me. I am your big sister. I've watched you grow up and Jesus Will. You're one of the smartest kids I know." Praising him, a pink tint covered his cheeks. "Thanks Murph. I'm glad you're with me." He mumbled. "Me too kid."
