empty cans, candy wrappers and bags of chips surrounded the group of teens who'd been on the rooftop since that morning. they played games and drank like they did the day before and the day before that.
The group were enjoying their time in an almost empty school. All the kids from legacies were at home with their families, and teachers were away as well, leaving the school the very few teachers and the rats.
Ame and the others enjoyed the time in the empty school. Running around the hallways, stealing school supplies for their own enjoyment. sleeping in classrooms and readying pranks for after the break. The teens were having a blast.
Saya had talked to Ame about her going home many times now. Told the girl she needed to let the rest know what she was really going to do. But Ame didn't dare, Cedric still doesn't want her to go and he's scared for his sister. How would her friends feel?
Saya decided enough was enough, Ame was going to leave and she wasn't going to be telling the group. So Saya told them. The group wasn't happy with the news. Saya explained Ame had already made up her mind and wasn't taking anyone with her. Still, the group needed to come with her. She'd helped Billy with his father, helped Petra when she was humiliated at the dance, she'd helped Lex through his first breakup and helped Saya feel needed again. She had even helped Maria after all that Maria did to her. Most of all she'd helped Marcus, she saved him, in every way a person could be saved. She'd made him a part of something, accepted him into their family. Yet, she wouldn't accept their help because it'd put them in danger.
At least that's the reason Ame told Saya. And yes, it's true it would endanger them, but it wasn't why she didn't want anyone going along with her. She didn't want her friends to see where she grew up, she didn't want them there, she couldn't have them there when she'd kill everyone responsible for her horror childhood. Ae needed to do this on her own. End that chapter of her life for good, leaving it behind her so she could truly start fresh. She'd finally sleep, her mind could rest knowing it wasn't happening to anyone else anymore, knowing no one was out there hunting her down and knowing Cedric would be freed and safe from his past.
It needed to be Ame, and only Ame to put an end to this. The only other person who she'd consider taking was Cedric, as it's his past too. But he isn't trained as she is. And she knew he'd never look at her again if he'd see her kill his father with nothing but pleasure in her eyes. She wouldn't feel guilty, but he may not have acted like it, it was still his father, and it would hurt.
Ame knows Cedric well enough to know it was eating at him too. Had been ever since they'd escaped.
Ame had asked Cedric how he truly feels about putting an end to it."He's still my father." Cedric had said, and Ame was then for the first time conflicted, she had to kill Mr Malloy, even if he would make it to prison he'd escape and hunt them down. Ame couldn't let that happen, but it'd be so hard to return home and face her brother, tell him she'd killed his only family.
"Ame, we need to ask you something?" Billy decided to take the lead for the group. Ame looked up from her playing cards and saw all their eyes looking either at her or down.
"What is it," Ame asked slightly thrown off by the change of atmosphere.
"We know why you're going to England, and we want, scratch that, need to come with you." Marcus looked at her. It had been hard for him not to tell her to not go and act clueless whenever she mentioned her trip.
So now the word was out. She knew they knew.
Ame looked at Saya, hoping that by doing so everyone would forget about it. But that wasn't possible so she had to explain why she wouldn't want them there. And she did. Careful to give them not everything, but enough to at least convince them she be alright. She kept repeating how she'd done much more dangerous things, and she'd be home the day after Christmas.
