Halfway to Ame's home, Emery took the girls somewhere else. They protested but I decided it'd be easier for them to go somewhere else, I didn't think Ame's home was going to be big enough for all of us, and with Ame in this state, it's better not to have too many people around.
Ame had been passed out ever since we headed for her home. I've been carrying her since, hopefully not making her pain worse. Her blood was all over me, it had been all over some of the girls too. We had a few of the girls, that knew a lot about fixing up wounds, put some temporary 'bandages' on her, to slow the bleeding down. However, the strips of cloth, were drenched in blood, once white, now a deep vibrant red.
In my life, I have seen a lot of gunshot wounds. I've had them, I've made them. But I have never seen one as bad as this one. It surprises me that the girl in my arms is still alive. I check her breathing every 2 minutes because I'm scared that the second I walk again, she stops.

We've made it. We've finally made it. I opened the back door and locked it behind me. I gently lay Ame down on her couch, careful not to cause any more pain. As soon as she is laying down, and still breathing, I go through all the cabinets, looking for supplies. I take everything I think might be helpful, but I don't know what will be. The bullet might have gone straight through, which will hopefully be the case, I think. I don't know where the bullet hit, the girls couldn't tell me either, they wouldn't have been much help now either, they were shaking and tired, and I am too. But I will help my friend, I need to help her, not only for myself but for her.
I've raided Ame's house. I think I have everything I need. I sit down next to the couch, on my knees. I need to pull Ame's shirt up. I try but fail.
Ame stirrs. I'm afraid to hurt her.
"It's okay"
A croaky voice from next to me,
Ame,
her eyes are half opened, looking at me. She takes my hands.
"Don't worry"
The girl bleeding out on the couch is telling me not to worry, great.
With loud grunts, she pulls her shirt up. She tries to loosen the bandages, but her hands are too shaky.
I take over from her. I remove the bandages and grab her hand. "This is gonna hurt"
"Like it doesn't already" she laughs at her joke, but laughing hurts so a frown forms on her face. "Just squeeze my hand okay?" She hummed a reply.
I pour some fresh water over the wound, the water turning red immediately after making contact with the injury. Ame squeezes my hand, but she tells me it's not too bad. But I still need to use disinfectant. I pour some on a clean shirt I found and dab it on the wound. Ame screams in pain, I think I might lose my hand if she squeezes any harder, but when I remove the shirt her voice dies down and the pressure on my hand loosens.
"Told you I could take it" Ame smirked, but it falters soon as a wave of sickness comes over her.
I look at the wound, it's still bleeding, and it looks infected already. I slowly feel Ame's back for the exit wound, but it isn't there. The bullet is deep inside her, shit.
"It's still in there, isn't it? The bullet?" I don't have to say anything for her to know.
She pushes herself up, to sit (somewhat) upright on her couch. Blood pours out of her with every motion. She looks sick and lurches forward, getting ill on the floor, blood spilling out of her mouth now too. She wipes it with the back of her hand, but she doesn't get everything, so I clean the rest of her face.
Tears well up in her eyes, making me realise I am already crying.
"I need you to do something for me." she breaks the silence, her voice soft, yet still so strong, like she has been all her life.
"You know because I can't anymore."
"Anything," I tell her quietly
"I wrote a letter, to my family, from back at kings, I need you to get it there for me. It's on the counter, the address is on it. Promise me you'll get it to them."
"You can get it to them yourself. I'll call an ambulance and they'll fix you and you bring it to them yourself." I protest.
"Dawn, you and I both know that isn't going to happen. Promise me, please?" She smiles softly.
"I promise you, Ame. I'd do anything for you." I embrace her in a hug.
"Tell them I love them. Tell Marcus that he saved me, and he's made me the happiest person alive. Tell Cedric that he deserves a good life and that he's a great brother. Keep the girls safe for me. Thank them all for me, for the incredible life they have given me."
"I will, I will, and they love you too Ame. You are a hero and you saved so many lives. You are an amazing human being and the world is lucky to have you in it. We all love you, and we'll miss you, Ame."
I pull back.
Ame's eyes are closed, and I lay her down.
"You can rest now."
