Chapter 36

Last high school party of senior year was at Masons cottage outside of town, where he had another party junior year that I attended.

When Aurora and I drove up the gravel driveway there was already a line of cars, causing us to have to park in the grass with some other cars. We could hear the music inside the house from the car and I could see people already partying from the windows.

"You ready for the last huge school party of your career?" Aurora asks from the passenger seat

"I've been to enough of these to last me a lifetime" I let out a laugh

"Oh really?" She asked "how many?"

"Come on, babe" I looked at her and her dark brown hair was shining in the growing darkness of the sky

"Did you have lots of fun at those parties, with all the girls who fell all over you?" She asked, looking right back at me, she knew she wasn't my friend girlfriend, but my first serious relationship.

"No, and you know that" I teased her

"I know" she laughed and leaned over to peck my lips "I'm just messing with you" she smiled

"I'm pretty sure I have to worry about the guys being all over you" I told her, only half joking, I'm not stupid to think other guys don't look at her

"Oh please" she rolled her eyes "everyone knows I'm your girlfriend"

"Still, you'll be the most beautiful girl in there" I kissed her "i might have to kick someone's ass tonight"

"No one will mess with Luke Hemmings girlfriend" she continued to tease me and to be honest all I wanted to do was grab her a kiss her. "Come on let's go inside and have fun" she said right before she opened the door and got out of the car.

I got out as well and took her hand as we walked up the pathway to the house, the pebbles of gravel crunch under our feet with every step and the slight breeze that kept the temperature perfect. As we walked into the party I instantly recognized the place, it hadn't changed since the last time i came here.

As I scanned the room for a familiar face that's when I saw our host, Mason. I wasn't thrilled when i found out he was throwing the party. After the first party I brought Aurora to when he got drunk, or the countless comments he used to get under my skin. Basically I plan to just keep myself and Aurora opposite of him.

"Luke! Aurora!" I hear a voice from behind me over the music. We turned, causing an awkward angle on our interlocked hands, so I opted to put my around around her instead and she laughed

"Hey Mikey" Aurora greeted him as he gave us both a hug. He already had a cup in his hand, but the party had just started so he wasn't drunk just yet.

"I wish I had a place like this" he commented, waving his hands around making the beer in his cup just barely hit the rim and threaten to fall

"It's really nice" which I had to admit, it was

"You guys want a drink?" He asked, as he brought us into the kitchen

"Yeah I'll have one" I told him

"I'll have one too" Aurora told him. I looked at her from the corner of my eye "what? I've had alcohol before and I'm just having one. I want to have some actual high school fun" she assured me. So I handed her one of the two cup Michael gave me and we continued to talk in the kitchen

When Ashton and Addison finally arrived they went straight to dancing with each other and by the way that their hair and clothes were, we all knew what made them late. I shook my head and laughed, knocking back my second beer and setting the empty cup on the counter
