Ryla woke up long before her father. As she blinked groggily, she was met with his muscular, naked upper body. She blushed and created some distance between herself and him, falling off the bed as she did.
"Ow..." Rubbing her head, Ryla looked at the peacefully sleeping shadow demon. "I can't believe I was so clingy... and he went along with it! Awh, I love you pops."
She pecked his forehead with a smile, then changed into her usual clothes. She looked at her summoner's robe with uncertainty. She could wear it and her cold demeanor and act like nothing happened, or reveal herself to the Order of Heroes and show them her true self. Then she recalled her father's words from the night before.
"You can't reveal yourself as my daughter, you'll be hunted down as a Child of Taboo."
"He's right, I'm a mere human. What am I to the demons of the Abyss?" She murmured sadly. Even if she became the strongest human mage or warrior alive, she'd still fall short of a high-rank demon. "Maybe daddy's right. I'll need a demonic body to traverse the Abyss anyway, right? I should look into such arts in my studies later. I'm hungry."
As she was about to leave, she glanced at her unconscious father. She could leave him there to rest, but if someone else saw... no, she couldn't take that risk.
"Daddy! Wake up!" Ryla poked his cheek. No sign of change, his chest still rose and fell rhythmically. She huffed in exasperation, and shook his shoulder. "Daddy! WAKE UP!!"
Still nothing. Akros remained asleep no matter what she did. She tried pinching, biting, kicking, slapping, even jumping on him as she got more frustrated.
"Hah... hah..." She panted, then growled furiously. "What the fuck?! How does he do it?!"
At her wit's end, she tried to drag him out of bed. He was heavy, but not immovable. Once Ryla put on her robe and covered her face with the hood, she began to drag Akros down the hallway. She had slept in, so everyone else was already at the canteen eating breakfast or going about their business. Ryla wanted to summon a few more heroes today, so she wanted to get going.
Unfortunately for her, Akros was still out cold. He hadn't slept in months, so once he was asleep he wasn't going to wake for a long time. She pulled him by his hands, using his tail's armor to help slide him across the floor. His tail didn't protrude out of his back much before pointing down, so he was still mostly flat on the floor.
Eventually, after a herculean effort and raw determination Ryla made it to the canteen doors. She kicked them open, startling the heroes inside. When they looked at her questioningly, she gestured to the unconscious demon behind her.
"Can someone help me wake this moron up?!" Ryla shouted. She took a second to catch her breath and once she looked up she saw Hector in front of her. "Hector, hit him with something. He's not reacting to anything I do, including dragging him here."
"Uh, sure," Hector said, a little confused as to why the summoner personally dragged the demon to the canteen. How did she get into his room? But he wasn't going to ask. Lyn had scolded him several times about his manners, so he learned.
Hector delivered a heavy punch to Akros' chest, only to hurt his hand. "Ow! His pecs are made of steel or something!"
"Oh... is his body so durable that we can't hurt him? Is that why he won't wake?" Ryla muttered in disbelief. She looked at Hector with a new idea. "Can you help me drop him off a balcony? If he doesn't wake after that I'm out of ideas."
"Normally I'd say no to such a preposterous idea, but..." Hector looked at the snoozing demon with astonishment. "He'll be fine, won't he?"
"Yeah."
