Akros found a large crater in the ground, which he suspected to have previously been a lake. Once the water evaporated a deep divot in the ground was left behind, and after checking with Haki he deemed this location suitable.
He stood at the deep center of the crater, performing the magic condensing exercise a few more times before his felt his body trembling as if ready to blow after at least an hour passed. He took out the canteen of soul water and drank it slowly, making sure not to spill. As soon as the canteen was back in his inventory, he expanded his magic veins the last time and compressed the last of his magic power.
Akros felt a wave of silence throughout his body, before it suddenly and rapidly began to change. It was as if a signal had been sent telling his body time to go!
His demon heart was the first part of him to grow. A sensation, like threads were being wound around his heart like a woven basket. These threads were extremely rough, seemingly a layer of protection. He realized that his plan to starfish himself into two may be more difficult now.
Then the pain came. His entire body grew larger. Bones cracked along with his muscles growing and condensing at the same time, making him roar in pain. His musculature had been topped off for his frame, so as soon as his body grew bigger his muscles had to reshape themselves. His tendons condensed as well to better wind his body together. He expected these changes, but that didn't help with the agony that accompanied it.
His talons grew thicker and longer, and he noticed something odd. His crystalline body parts darkened, becoming a deep and murky purple shade. They kept their shiny, smooth exterior, but also condensed with his muscles and tendons. His tail and blade at the end of it grew heavier and stronger, thicker, and longer. His tail was now 25 feet in length including the arrow-shaped blade. Along the sides of his tail smaller spikes grew out, mimicking the blade's pointed edges.
Akros suddenly felt two unbearably itchy bumps emerge on his shoulder blades, beneath his wings. He bellowed in pain as they erupted, spewing blood and mucus all over the ground and himself. Two blade wings grew underneath the first pair, all four the same size. His wingspan was now 20 feet, still incapable of flight but the blades served as protection against assassination attempts. He had dirtied his wings many times against fights with angel groups, so he didn't mind two more.
Then his horns began to grow. They changed color like his tail, wings, and claws, darkening drastically. Each horn continued to move along the sides of his head, albeit not by much. He already had a half-crown, and the main growth was the points by his temples. Each point rose up by a foot, creating a |_| shape above his forehead. The points were now sharp pillars that pierced the sky, a symbol of his demonic authority.
His black hair also grew longer, retaining its spiky thickness as it did. He now had hair similar to Gohan from Dragon Ball Z in his adulthood. His black spikes pointed backward, curving down at the back of his head. His hair went down to his nape, but even those spikes pointed out from his body. It was as if his hair was permanently gelled.
Once he recovered from the pain Akros examined his body as he burnt away the blood and mucus with shadowflame, making sure to unequip Crafanc so as to not melt it. He noted how his purple body parts were so dark they were almost black, and it made his body fit the aesthetic of a shadow demon better. He unequipped his sweatpants briefly to dye them navy, and made them thinner and more stretchy, like track pants.
He admired his new track pants on his legs with a satisfied smile. It only cost him 20 souls to adjust his pants, so he didn't mind. They now covered his legs tightly, but not to his skin, and went down to his ankles.
Akros took a look at his status.
