[16] Above The Clouds

The taxi arrived to pick you and Ayato up. The drive was silent and you rested your head on Ayato's shoulder.

Still trying to process everything that had just happened, made it especially difficult to do so while leaning on your new boyfriend's shoulder.

You almost fell asleep a couple of points since you were so comfortable. But you managed to stay awake during the short drive.

Once you arrived you grew a little nervous as you rode the elevator up. You hoped that Ayato could keep his temper down with Itto.

"Brother, Y/n, you came!" Ayaka said in disbelief as the two of you walked in through the door, "I wasn't expecting you to show up after yesterday."

You smiled and nodded, unsure whether to bring up your new relationship with Ayato. It was something you decided to leave up to Ayato himself since Ayaka was his sister after all. It would only make sense that he'd break the news to her.

"You said that crazy oni calmed down, right?" Ayato asked.

Ayaka nodded, "he's actually asleep right now--"

"YOU'VE RETURNED, BRO!" Itto shouted as he suddenly bolted by the doorway to greet us.

"Well, he was." She giggled.

The energy Itto gave off felt different from when you met him yesterday. He did seem a little calmer, even if you couldn't tell by his actions.

"And your girlfriend! I don't think I've properly introduced myself." Itto admitted.

You shook your head, "you've already introduced yourself multiple times..."

Itto's shoulders drooped, "oh, really?"

The four of you chatted (Itto mostly shouted) until Thoma came in and announced that he had just made tea. You all went to the kitchen to enjoy some freshly brewed tea.

You all discussed plans for today as you drank your tea. Although, nobody could settle on the same thing. You all wanted to do different things.

While discussing you noticed that Ayato was a lot more relaxed than yesterday. Maybe it had to do with the fact that he hadn't confessed then? Carrying the weight of waiting for the perfect moment to express his feelings must've been stressful.

"How about we go to an amusement park?" Thoma suggested after a while.

Finally, everyone agreed.

"Only problem, the nearest amusement park is several hours away..." You said disappointingly, "even if started driving now, we'd barely have any time."

Thoma smirked, "whoever said we had to take a car?"

It suddenly clicked. The Kamisato's owned a helicopter.

"We're going to...fly there?" You said, astonished.

He nodded.

Your jaw dropped.

"I've never been flown before." You admitted.

Ayaka's head tilted, "not even an airplane?"

"Nope."

Itto shouted, "YEEEEHAWWW WE'RE GONNA FLYYYYY"

"I'll make sure your first flight experience is great," Thoma said. "Let's go now before we waste any more time."

You all left the kitchen and made your way to the front door. While walking there you had the thought... where even is the helicopter? You can't just leave it parked beside the road like a car.

After leaving the apartment you all piled up into the small elevator. Ayato stood closely next to you, letting your shoulders touch.

"Itto, remember, absolutely no jumping in the elevator, okay?" Thoma warned.

He gave a thumbs up.

"Did he jump in the elevator before?" You asked, not really wanting to know the answer.

Unfortunately, Thoma nodded, "last night he did. I was going to the store to pick up a few groceries for dinner and he insisted on coming with me. While we were riding the elevator down to the lobby he got so excited and started jumping. I didn't even know if we'd make it to the ground floor safely.."

That sounded terrifying. The thought of someone jumping in an elevator and the box begins to sway, scares you. You were glad Itto was tamer now than last night, so you didn't need to worry about that fear becoming a reality.

The elevator rang once you reached, what you thought was the lobby, which ended up being the roof. A shiny red helicopter sat on top of the roof. You hadn't thought about it staying up here.

"We were lucky that the owner of this building let us keep the helicopter here, otherwise I'm not sure what we'd do with it," Thoma said, basically answering the question you were about to ask.

Without hesitation, Itto bolted towards the helicopter and began to continuously poke it. "SO COOL!" He shouted.

Thoma walked over to it and unlocked the doors, opening them for everyone to enter. Thoma let Ayaka sit in the front with him while you were with Ayato and the crazy oni in the back. Ayato sat in the middle, keeping you away from Itto and giving you the window seat since this is your first time flying after all.

"Make sure you're all buckled because we're about to take off," Thoma said while putting a headset on.

You looked down to make sure the seat belt was securely strapped across your waisted.

You were about to ask Ayato if you put it on correctly, but the propellers suddenly turned on and the ground slowly began to shrink. You smushed your face against the window, you couldn't believe you were actually in the air right now. The whole city slowly decreased in size the higher up you got.

"we're actually flying!" You said in amazement.

Ayato chuckled, then slowly wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

You gasped as your saw fluffy white clouds appear below you, "clouds! we are above the clouds!"

It was impossible to contain your excitement right now. You were more excited by being in the air than going to the amusement park.

"That one looks like a cat," Ayato said, pointing at a cloud.

You shook your head, "I think it looks more like a dog. And that one is shaped like a heart!" You pointed out, then turned around to look at him. He planted a kiss on your forehead before smiling, causing your face to heat up.

Past Ayato, you noticed Itto peeking at you guys with his mouth wide open.

"Caught in 4k." He said breathlessly.
