Harry Potter the Master of None (Adopted Version)

The Mappers

Harry's POV

It had been three days since the space pirate incident and my magic reserves finally returned to normal. Everyone on the ship were also enjoying all the different ways to eat dirt rocks--I had only recently introduced them to mashed potatoes, and it seemed to be a favorite for all the herbivore aliens. 

Me and Hulion were relaxing next to a huge glass window in the library immersed in our books. Mine was labelled Intergalactic  Creatures and how to find them. The book itself told me many things the first of which was that every planet had its own new creatures that other planets don't. It also told me that most planets also have the same creatures as other planets--these were referred to as Intergalactic Creatures. One of which was bats, many many planets had species of bats. This was intriguing to me as I had chosen to study creatures for this space voyage.  

As we were reading a blue light started lighting up the room, and flashing along with another siren. I froze and immediately vanished. Hulion's stars blinked in amusement as he let out a loud laugh and scooped my still far to small body up and tossed me in the air. I flipped and landed next to him, coming back into visibility again, he laughed and then started to explain.

"Little one, the blue light is an announcement and the small gentle beeping alarm means that we are nearing a planet and if I'm not mistaken we are nearing the planet our mappers are exploring."

I narrowed my eyes mulling it over. Finally, my curiosity won over and I had to ask, "Hulion? What are the mappers?" 

Hulion's stars lit up brightly as he began to excitedly tell me about them. "The mappers are an elite group of aliens who scope out planets before the main ship may follow. Each alien has a special field they gauge before they allow the ship to land. For instance, Mercury studies plant life and he has to gauge if it is edible or if the plant life is toxic or not, before allowing a ship to land. Every alien on this ship wants to join the mappers however, there are certain expectations of a mapper that stops them.

A mapper must have a minimal level 3 healing capacity either to themselves or to others. A mapper must also be able to pass an endurance test and a bunch of challenges, along with having a specific skill set to add to the group. They must also be researching something another of the mappers are not researching. 

As of now there are 5 mappers on this ship. We have Mercury who studies plants, we have Garnical (Gar-Nickel) who researches water sources and liquids, we have Blutet (Blue-tet) and she researches the intelligent species and decides if they are a threat. We also have Byron (Bye-Ron) who researches minerals and finds new components to build with, and finally we have Fernium (Fern-I-um) she researches new power cores and new power sources, and usually she also happens to be the one who brings in the most income to our ship.

To be honest Harry, I wanted to be a mapper, but sadly Iove studying cultures and such and that is kind of considered the same as studying intelligent life...so alas because Blutet is studying the same thing I cannot add a research element to the group." 

I blinked processing all this information at once, and easily I could tell these mappers were an interesting group of people. The fact we had made it to the viewing deck and could see a space capsule flashing green floating near a HUGE planet--that was beautiful--cemented that thought into my brain.

I was staring in awe at this planet that was covered in blue and turquoise , along with beautiful swirling patterns of purple. I was enraptured. "Harry the flashing green capsule is the mappers ship, because its green it means its safe to land. The mappers will dock with us and we'll land and get to explore!" Hulion told me excitedly, his stars blinking sporadically.  

My eyes lit up as we watched the ship dock and the mappers exit the capsule, all five of them. One was deep blue with purple angel wings tucked behind his shoulders and a cats tail brushing the floor as he walked. Hulion whispered to me his name. "That ones Mercury." My eyes flittered up to his face and saw his two tiger eyes in fact his whole face resembled a tiger. His body stood tall like a human, two legs and two arms.

My eyes flittered to the next person. Garnical whims body was covered in dark green smooth scales, his body had four arms and the top two arms resembled a gorillas--as they reached the floor, his two smaller legs looked to be strong and small. His body was a deep back with a strange glowing blue crystal structures across his back...resulting in a crystal shell protecting him. He had four eyes and otherwise a human like face. He was smiling and I could see he was joking around with Mercury as he gently punched him in the shoulder as they all walked in.

Blutet and Fernium turned out to be twins. They both looked exactly the same as each other. With leathery skin which was covered in silver scales--which could only act as armor. Along with one having ice coating their body, having two arms and two legs, the other having harsh hot magma coating her body as well. Their faces though kind, soon became easier to see as they touched the ground--both suddenly no longer held the fire or ice covering their bodies--and they both seemed to have one eye and weirdly enough two noses with a single mouth. One had short purple hair flicked to one side and the other had fiery blueish green hair that was long enough to be in a high pony tail. Each were laughing hard at each other. 

Finally the last of the group came out, Byron. His body resembled a dinosaur. His head and neck, one his teeth seeming like large fangs. His tail stretching out from his spine eerily like a dinosaur. With another once over I noticed he was a solid heavy mass which made sense because he was the one studying rocks. He was carrying a large glowing blue rock which once inside he handed to the Captain--who guffawed and tossed it to and engineer...I think. he gave the order to "Feed it to our power core Laxuz!" 

I looked a them in awe as they entered. I could feel the power they all carried as the entered and sat down around a table talking and joking to each other...so those are the mappers hey?!   ...   Interesting.
