THE GIRL
~

THE DAY went by fast, because I was asleep.

Everything is better when you're asleep.

I rubbed my eyes and walked down the hallway tiredly, I saw Steve and Soda talking up a storm on the couch, I smiled brightly and sat next to Steve.

"Hey darling." Steve smirked at me, I blushed and smiled at him. Soda looked at us then looked away, I don't know why he wouldn't want us together, I'm his sister and Steve is his best friend. Can't he at least trust me?

I yawned and leaned back against the couch cusion, considering how long I've been sleeping. Steve draped an arm around my shoulder, sending shivers down my spine.

Soda left, wherever he went, I hope he trusted me and Steve and knows I wouldn't be doing this to him on purpose.

I rested my head in the crook of his neck, which was more comfortable than I thought it would be.

I felt two pairs of eyes staring into my soul, Ponyboy's and Darry's.

I rolled my eyes, which made the both of them even more annoyed. Johnny had left to the front porch to have a smoke, there was this feeling that I had gotten from him... a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I ignored the feeling.

How stupid of me.

THE BOY
...

I walked to the porch for fresh air, and for a smoke.
Ponyboy had told me Steve and Lolipop had something for the longest time, why did it have to escalate to something when I made an appearance in her life?

I've never loved a girl before, girls scared me. Ever since Sylvia pulled a move on me, I hadn't trusted or talked to a girl.

It sounds stupid, but it's true and it made me sound like some loser and I hated that.
I took a drag on my cigarette and leaned my head back. I wanted so badly to know her better, but I knew she didn't feel the same for me.

Hell, she doesn't even know she saved me before something bad happened to me.

I lowered my head and threw my cigarette onto the ground and stomped on it. I let out a shaky sigh and opened the screen door.

When I walked inside, Pony looked at me then looked away. Darry looked pissed off as well. I didn't think too much of it before I saw Steve and Lolipop sitting close to each other on the couch. Steve's arm wrapped around Lolipop's shoulders.

I tried not to show emotion and looked away, I should've known that she wouldn't feel the same about me. Hell, nobody has ever felt the same about me before.

"I'm going to the lot..." i mumbled, walking back to the front door. I could hear shuffling from inside and Pony emerged from the other side of the door.

"I couldn't take watching Steve and Loli any longer, let's get outta here." He motioned for me to follow him so I did.

We walked for awhile before we made it to the lot, we sat on the torn couch and talked up a storm.
"I know you feel something for my sister." Pony blurted.
"I don't." I shook my head.
"Yes you do, I see how you look at her." Pony stated.
"Shoot, she would never like me back anyways." I rested my head in my palms.
"I'm sure she does, she just doesn't know it yet." Pony assured me, I nodded dumbly.

We sat in a comfortable silence before there was screaming coming from around the corner. Pony looked at me with wide eyes before we started running to the screaming.

There stood Dally who was throwing punches at a boy Soc who was screaming in pain. It was the guy that beat my up the other day before school.

How did he know?

"Dal!" I yelled at him in horror, Dally turned to me with insane eyes. His almond brown hair was messy and he had a few scars on his face and arms. His leather jacket was laying on the ground, which was covered in blood.

"This is the guy right? The guy that almost killed you?!" He yelled at me sternly, his eyes were blazing and you never mess with Dally when his eyes look like that.

"Yes." I nodded frantically, trying not to shake in fear. I always tried my best not to get Dally angry, or he'd probably kill me.

"Ill kill you, you little..." Dally went on calling the Soc words that sent shivers down my spine, I should be used to it by now, he always says stuff like that.

Pony stood there awkwardly behind me, he looked like he wanted to leave, or stop the fight.

I wanted to too, but you just don't say that to Dallas Winston, he'd probably pick a fight with you.

"Come on." I urged Ponyboy, who looked at me with worried eyes. "Let's go." I urged him again.

Ponyboy nodded and followed me back to the lot. It was quiet as the leaves crunched beneath us.

"You think Dal will kill him?" I muttered loud enough for him to hear me.
"Nah, even if he did, the Soc deserved it." Ponyboy said, bored.
"Oh."

I just hoped Dally wouldn't be wanted for murder by tomorrow.
