Day 1
Y/n POV:
"Rise and shine," I whispered in Eddie's ear. I'd been awake for a little while now, but hadn't wanted to stir him. Instead I'd just sat watching him while I quietly moved things from my duffel bag into the drawers of the storage he'd fitted.
He'd done a really great job of making the back of a van feel cozy and inviting. We had everything we needed in here. I loved the way it felt moving my own belongings in amongst Eddie's, and it really started to sink in that we were actually doing this: we were going on the road, just me and him. And it felt like we had our own little home, even if it was a rusty metal box on wheels.
Eddie usually slept... chaotically. It never stopped being fascinating to see how he would be sprawled out in some ridiculous position by the time I woke up. This morning was no different. I carefully brushed his hair out of his face with my fingers before whispering in his ear.
He groaned and scrunched his face up as he woke and opened one eye to look at me. Seeing how I was looking at him, he smiled and brought a hand up to his face. I giggled and imitated his groan.
"Time to get up, Eddie," I laughed as he pulled the cover over his head like a child. Instead of getting up, he threw the cover out of the way and dragged me back down so that I was lying next to him. He brought both arms around me and held me there.
"Five more minutes," he muttered. I wanted to argue but quickly gave in, simply because there was nothing better in the world than lying in his arms.
But after around thirty seconds, he abruptly sat up, pulling me up with him. I shifted to look up at him in confusion as he stared at the door of the van, seeming thoughtful.
"What are you doing?" I chuckled.
"I smell food," he declared before hopping down off the bed and starting to get himself dressed.
"Of course. Why am I not surprised?" I scoffed jokingly as he gave me a grin. I climbed off the bed as well as he zipped up his jeans and picked a T-shirt out of one of the drawers to put on. Of course, he put his vest on top. I was already dressed; I was wearing denim shorts with a light pink and blue button-up shirt tucked into them.
"I love when you wear this shirt," he looked down at me and pulled me closer to him by putting his fingers through the belt loops of my shorts.
"Yeah, yeah. Go get your food," I joked, trying to fix his wild hair as best as I could. He let out a chuckle and put both hands on my cheeks to tilt my face down so he could kiss the top of my head, before opening the van door and jumping down.
Steve and Robin were crouched by Steve's Weber Go-Anywhere portable grill. They appeared to be arguing about something random related to whether Steve was doing a good enough job. He was grilling bacon and sausages, and there was a plate of what he had already done next to them. Eddie went straight towards them.
"Hey! No no no!" Robin tried to stop Eddie from stealing their food, but it was too late, because he had already snatched bacon and put it on an empty plate, moving to sit on one of the camping chairs.
"Come on, dude!" Steve tutted and raised his hands in the air. Upon seeing me walking over too he shook his head at me, "what is it with you two and stealing my food?"
"What? I didn't even take anything," I screwed my face up in confusion as I went to sit down as well. Nancy and Jonathan emerged from a tent now and waved but sat a little bit away from us. The younger kids seemed to be in the 14 person mansion of a tent, because I could hear their voices. God knows where Argyle was.
