Inspired by lyin 2 me. If you haven't seen it, go watch it, you need it to understand this story.

I found a oneshot about this ship, but it wasn't age appropriate, so I made one that is.

Headcanons: Orange and Detective were the only survivors of the mission on the Skeld. I kept hearing Orange being called a she in the behind the scenes, so I'm headcanoning her as a girl.

((Detective's point of view))

A few days ago, Pink killed everyone on the ship, and almost got me ejected. Thankfully we managed to eject her instead, just in time. I trudged to communications, telling Mira that everything had been dealt with. No one replied, but I left the message anyway. I set down my communicator, going back to my quarters. I felt like my bones were about to break. I couldn't help but feel the fear and terror of being thrown into an airlock all over again. The thought almost made me puke. It was so vivid.

"Detective?" I heard someone ask as the door to my quarters opened. I whipped my head around to see Orange standing at the doorway. She walked over to my bed, which was more like a shelf.
"What is it, Orange?" I said quickly. I didn't mean for it to sound so panicked.
"I heard you crying. You okay?"
"No I'm not okay! I got tossed into a freaking airlock, witnessed the murders of several of my friends, then I had to kill somebody to survive!" I vented. "Now I'm stuck with no response from Mira..." I was very frustrated, somewhat sad, and sorta scared.

Orange sat down next to me. She didn't say anything, just hugged me from the side. I grabbed a notepad from the drawer next to me; writing little songs always calmed my nerves. And honestly, this mission gave me an idea for one. Not just a small rhyme, a full on song.
"Whatcha doin?" Orange asked, peeking over my shoulder. Her eyes were as warm looking as the stars we passed. I chuckled.
"You'll see." I started getting writer's block on the bridge.

By then I had gotten down the lines 'listen to me listen now, lend me your ears...' then I didn't know what to say next.
"Are you writing a song?" Orange asked. I had forgotten she was there.
"Yeah, but I don't know what rhymes with this line!" Orange hummed, thinking.
"Fears." She said finally.
"What?" I inquired.
"It rhymes." I nodded, writing the next line. Before I knew it the song was finished.
"Can you sing it to me?" Orange asked. I blushed a little.
"Uh, okay." And so I sang. It sounded decent, but I wasn't too confident. Orange clapped once it was over.

"So, what do you want to call it?" Orange asked.
"I was thinking "Lyin 2 me", but what do you think?" I replied.
"It sounds like a good title." We stayed silent for a while, when Orange started humming a tune.
"What are you humming?" I asked.
"I'm trying to come up with an instrumental for that song." I blushed a little. She cared about me enough to help with the music?
"Oh! Um.. thanks." I rubbed the back of my head.

The skeld shook a little bit, as if it were entering an atmosphere. We both walked out of my room and headed to navigation. Apparently, the skeld had reached its destination, a planet called Polus. We landed with a large thud, and walked out onto Polus. I took in the cold air, mesmerized by the beautiful black sky.

"Y'know, I've lost a lot, but I guess I gained something too." Orange mentioned. I tilted my head.
"What's that?" I inquired.
"A... bit of a crush."

I blushed so hard at Orange's statement that I began to stutter. She twirled her fingers nervously.
"Yeah, I may or may not have a crush on you."
"What? For how long?!" I exclaimed, so loudly that the pouls crew could probably hear me, despite us being about half a mile away from the outpost.
"... a month..." she said fearfully. I was in shock, but then again... my stomach kept flipping while we were writing that song, and my heart fluttered whenever she was around me.
"I understand if you don't like me back, since it hasn't been that long. And the... airlock thing. I'm still really sorry about that." She said quietly.
