"I swear it, on my honor, on my blood and on the gods."

My father's arms succumbed to me in his embrace as he hugged me goodbye. I was lucky to have him in my life–for the love he gave me unconditionally. Sometimes I wondered if his relationship was this close to the twins as it was with us or maybe I was able to understand him better than Kalama and Aeson ever did. Not only for the sacrifices he made, but how the sunlight in our veins hummed from time to time and the risk we faced every day. If there is one person in this world who will understand me completely and will not judge me, it is Sebastian Breevort, my father. "If you need anything, Soari, you know where we are." We pulled apart as a tear escaped my eye, wiping it away before anyone could see. "Create the shield right after I leave."
I nodded. It was the middle of the afternoon and Father was going back to Ambrosia today, most likely going to update Mom on everything that happened here. I wished she came here with him because right now, I needed her just as much as I needed him. I could probably give her a call sometime later after Emmeline and I secured the shield around our place. "I'll keep you updated."
"Okay," he replied, turning his gaze on the others now. Amias and Luc stood awkwardly with Bea,while Rosalind and Meli waved him goodbye like it was nothing new. To them, they were not fazed by how powerful he is, but to the others, he could make an entire room of Vampires bow to him within seconds. That's just how notorious my Father is throughout the world, I suppose. "It was nice to see you again, Amias and Luc." he said genuinely. Then to Bea, "And it was lovely to meet the famous Beatrice Clemonte my daughter always talks about."
A blush formed on her ivory cheeks and I couldn't help but curl my lips into a smile at the sight. "It was nice to meet you, too." she replied.
Father gave me a quick peck on the cheek before speeding his way out of my house, my city, my country like he was made of light. Relief flooded through me now that he was on his way back to Ambrosia, back to my Mother and siblings. A part of me wanted him to stay a little bit longer, but I knew he had a Kingdom to rule and all that. Though, sometimes, I wish it didn't have to be like that. Maybe in another lifetime.
As I looked around, I realized everyone was awkwardly silent. And from the way my cousins avoided the brother's, I could tell it was about the blood oath. Each one of us spilled blood for each other, making sure we kept each other safe. But the thing about the blood oath was the emotions forced to the surface; ranging from hatred, love, even lust. Our emotions were heightened already but with the oath involved, it could be dangerous. It was one of the reasons why no Vampire made an oath in the past few centuries for it has serious consequences if you don't use it well.
Bea interrupted my spiraling thoughts as she hooked her arm around me and walked me into the kitchen. "What did your Dad mean by seeing those brothers again?" she questioned, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you just met Amias and Luc at the bar?"
Oh, right, that was another lie I told her. I wondered how she would react if I told her, that no, I didn't meet the Guinivere's at Voltaire's but in the alleyway helping them bury a body? "Well, that is true, Bea. I just didn't connect the dots that they knew my Father from years before."
Silently, Bea started cleaning up the kitchen while I did the same. But before I could, Amias and Luc walked out of the house and I sped my way towards them without thinking. Rosalind and Emmeline ignored me as they went into the kitchen to help Bea. As we were now outside, the hot summer thrummed in my bones as a little bit of wind flew my hair all around my face. Neither brother noticed I was here until I clasped my hand around Amias', stopping him as he turned around immediately. "Not even a goodbye?" I questioned. "Seriously?"
