"Come back. Even as a shadow, even as a dream." –Euripides

"Where's Bea and Luc?" I asked Rosalind, who was sitting on the couch with a glass of red wine in her hand. Her curly hair was pulled up into a braid while she wore leggings and a white crop top.
My cousin had a book in her hand as she looked up at me, shaking her head. "I haven't seen them today. They might be out shopping, though I'm not sure why they would leave without telling us first." I frowned as I spent my way throughout the beach house, opening every door to see if they were here. After a minute, I didn't find them as I stood in front of Rosalind again. Meli emerged from outside, raising an eyebrow to see what we were talking about. "Bea and Luc aren't here." Rose told her.
Amias stood next to me now as he frowned. "He didn't tell me where he was going."
"I have a bad feeling about this," I confessed, gazing at the others now. Then, I pulled out my phone to track the two. We had it installed in our cell phones when we created the shield to ensure that everyone knew where each other were in a matter like this one. Bea's phone was left ten miles away from here in a quiet street from what I can tell, as was Luc's. I showed everyone the address and from the signal their phone gave us, they were active an hour ago. "They're in trouble."
Rosalind stood up and pulled on a pair of combat boots, while Emmeline grabbed her sneakers as quickly as they did. Amias was already dressed but he walked away and unlocked the closet in between the living room and kitchen, unlocking it and grabbing a blade for everyone. Once he handed my cousins their weapons, I was done putting on my own sneakers as he held out the shiny metal blade for me. "If they try to attack you again, use it."
I slowly clasped the blade, our fingers colliding briefly and it made the back of my spine trickle with electricity. Amias stared at me as I hid my weapon in the back of my shorts, backing away a step. Of course, I knew how to use a fucking blade. I grew up around warriors, so there wasn't any doubt I learned how to wield one at the ripe age of seven years old. "Obviously." I joked before heading out of my house with my cousins beside me. Amias ran behind all of us in case someone tried to attack us and I didn't like that at all. I couldn't explain it, but it pissed me off.
Once we got to the address, we were stunned silent. Bea was leaning on the dirty pavement as her eyes were clouded, but her heart was still beating. Luc was a foot away in the same state and I headed towards Bea now, crouching next to her as my healing powers seeped into her mortal body. Rosalind crouched on her other side, Amias and Emmeline checking on Luc. What the fuck happened to them? "She's perfectly healthy. It's as if she's having a nightmare but paralyzed throughout her entire body." I stated, eying Rose. From the shared look, we knew we had to call two people who knew about this sort of thing better than anyone else.
"We need to get them back to the house in case they come back for us." Amias claimed, as he pushed his brother up and held onto him with all his strength. His eyes were wild with fear and I almost wanted to go to him and hold him until he felt better. But there was a problem we had to deal with first and that was saving the people we loved.
Rosalind and I helped Bea up as she mumbled incoherent words that I could barely understand. "What was that, Bea?" I questioned.
"Hospital," she whispered. "Needles, poison, pain. They're going to kill me."
"What the fuck?" Rosalind cursed.
A second later, Luc did the same as his eyes were clouded from his own nightmares. His blond hair was caked in dried blood, as though he tried to fight off the shadows that now plagued him and failed. "Henri, Henri, Henri. Come back to me, please! I should've protected you better, should have told you how I felt before you died. I'm so sorry. No, no! Please don't kill me! I have to take care of my brother! He needs me, please get away–" Luc stopped, blabbering nonsense again. My heart leaped out of my chest in fear for both of my friends.
