A Black Widow Side Story

Chapter 12

Maya had her own private workspace in the lab that was where I left the nanotech for her. I sat up on the table and waited for her to come in. After some time, she entered the lab and saw the nanotech all around her tables. "He didn't question it when I asked him a couple days ago, and he gave me this today for you to make and test your idea. There's extra just in case." She was extremely happy and got to work immediately. Lily joined us and started working on the programming while Maya worked on the suits, and I sat at another table working on designing a new set of rings. It took almost a week, but we finally had one suit completed and a second one half done. Maya wanted to test the first suit, so I gave her the ring, sliding it on her middle finger she pressed the hourglass-shaped Jem which was the button to active the suit. The ring sent out the nanotech starting at her hand and working its way around her body. The suits would be tighter than what we normally wear but it would still give us full movement. Right now, the suit was all black but that would later be changed same with the rings. Each suit will be colored mainly black but have different pieces that were red or whatever the wearer wanted. The rings would all be the same but match the users ranks. As for now the three rings were just grey with a red and black stripe, close to being possible leaders but still just underlings to the already leaders.

suit was a dark red down to her Widow belt, with neon blue stripes from her shoulders to stomach then down to her belt, and below the belt was all grey. She had made designs for her widow bites as well. She built cuffs that had repulsors imbedded in them, it was like a gun only mounted on her wrist.

Lily's suit had a blueish grey top down to her belt, and below her belt was all grey. She made different clips and made her widow bites white with red stripes. She chose not to do a lot of detail on her suit.

I designed mine more for show at the start but after time I matched mine to Maya's just different colors. From top to bottom the suit was grey, where Maya had blue stripes, mine were a bright red. It had cutout sides, –removeable pieces but they could be recovered if wanted— I had normal widow bites with red electricity instead of our normal blue.

The only non-nanotech part of the suits were our boots, our belts, and holsters. We planned to upgrade our weapons and we did have enough to do so but that would be a later project. The rings would later be upgraded as well to maybe be necklaces or bracelets that way they would be harder to break. For now, they just blend into the suits to where you can't truly see them without feeling for the button.

We worked on the last few details before deciding to show them to Dreykov. We each grabbed our rings all of which matched our ranks. No one knew about this project besides Dreykov as a just in case it didn't work. We made our way out of the lab and heading up the stairs to he's office. You could tell people were watching and that we were nervous. Will this work? Did we do everything right? What if something messes up? I don't know what they were thinking but you could see it in their eyes but as we approached the huge doors, we quickly hid the fear and nerves. "Ok...we got this...we just go in and show him the suits. He'll ask questions, sure and we answer them. If this doesn't work well...it will, it must. Пожалуйста, работайте, пожалуйста / Please work, please." I placed my hand on the door and pushed it open. Dreykov was standing at his desk waiting for us as we entered. I took a deep breath and relaxed, this wasn't my first time in this room, with my fingers crossed I spoke up. "We have finished three suits, with extra tech left over for other upgrades if needed. Each suit is programmed and imbedded into rings." We each moved forward to show him the rings. Standing in front of his desk we each closed our eyes and activated our suits. Nanotech spread quickly across our bodies till it stopped, the suits were fully activated. We opened our eyes to see Dreykov looking over the suits.

"Kara, have you tested the strength and durability of these suits." I stood there and shook my head. He looked disappointed but said nothing. The doors opened again, Yelena, Jess, Nala, and Salena entered. "Well, this is perfect timing, guess you can test them out now." I somehow knew something like this would happen. Fear and nerves were gone now but replaced with a form of anger. It was like he called them in knowing we probably didn't test for strength and durability of these suits. "Nala you'll test Lily's suit, Jess you'll test Maya's, and Selena you'll test Kara's. Now let's go everyone else's training sessions are over! Make room for this fight." Each of Yelena's team escorted their test partners down to the training room with Dreykov and Yelena following behind us. I walked at the back in front of Yelena. As we walked, I slid the opening to my sides back up to cover those weaker points.
